These get a rock-solid "meh" rating from me. I'm trying very hard to like these, but to me they seem to lack clarity and are weak on top. Just to be thorough, I burned them in for several hours before listening to them for any length of time. Bass is decent for the price. For reference, I don't really have any high-end phones; in order of preference, I mainly use Grado SR80i's, Echobox Finder X1's, and Sennheiser HD 280 Pro's. To be fair, though none of these were very expensive, the KPH30i's were even less. They seem to do a bit better out of the phone jack of a receiver and I wish the cord was a little longer. I may try rolling pads or something; maybe something more open (I'm open to suggestions). But as they are, I don't see them getting into the rotation very often, if at all. The remote doesn't seem to do anything with either my Pixel 2 XL or my Nexus 5X. I have a pair of Porta Pro X's on the way from the recent drop. I hope they do better. It'll be interesting to compare.

sjfloatLet me know what you think of the Porta Pros. I actually like my KPH30s (I'd give them a 4/5 for a $20 purchase, obviously they don't sound as good as my 6xxs plugged into a THX 789) but I'm interested in the folding, metal frame that the Pros have. I'm curious about your opinion since you are one of the few that don't seem to like the KPH30s!

cwelton17Will do! Yes, these things are always subjective, but I didn't expect to find myself such an outlier. And there's still a chance of their growing on me, if I give them an extended chance (I'm listening to VDGG "Pawn Hearts" on them as I write this)

sjfloatSame exact experience I had, I got mine direct from the Koss site for $5 more. I actually have the PortaPro and the KSC75 already, so I was hoping to get a nice new cheap set, but these are much more veiled/muddy compared to both the KSC75/PP. Makes no sense to me, as the PP/75 both have really forward vocals, then you have the 30i where the vocals sound so recessed, like something is covering them. It's just not a good sound, but hard to complain at the $25 price range, but then again, you compare it to their other cheap products and it doesn't live up to the Koss name for me. The funny part? I prefer the cheapest $15 KSC75 out of all 3 of the Koss mentioned. And the KPH30i is the most uncomfortable out of all three, super tight clamp and the plastic is really stiff, so it's hard to stretch. With that said, I love small portable on-ear headphones and I've tried a bunch. To me, the Sennheiser PX-100ii are still king by a decent margin for small/portable on-ear headphones. I haven't found anything that has beaten them yet. They're discontinued now, so a bit harder to find, but you use to be able to grab them for $35 on sale. All my headphones are through a DacMagic V2 (great DAC/AMP too, beat out my Fulla 2 and it was only $50 on sale).
