starboardI'd like to know as well...I tried the MT5 and was relatively pleased, although the highs were a bit too elevated for my tastes
chuckolatteI havn't tried neither, but looking at the specs, the shure 440 and mdr 7506 might have been the closer cousins, the yamaha mt5 seems to be more closer to the ath-m50/x

OZ.Bloody.RabbitMDR 7506 is suck sound dampening and muddy dunno why others seems to like that headphone
u better buy mdr 7510 or cd900st if you want really flat neutral monitoring headphones
now i am in dilema i only have 200 bucks to spare to audio is this koss good ? or i should take a look at hifiman he4xx?

aditxmanpeople mostly like them because the MDR 7506 have been around so long and are more of a standard thing that everyone has some experience with but they can fall a bit behind today's standards since they haven't changed in 25 years. Also because they've been around so long and are pretty standard at this point, so it's really easy to find part to repair them and nearly everything replaceable on them.

aditxmanIf you want to enjoy your music, I'd go with the 4xx or the 6xx. If you're looking for an absolute flat signature though, these could be the ones you're looking for...

aditxmanI'd personally go for the hifiman honestly...definitely can't go wrong with either those, or the hd6xx's or k7xx's etc all just a tad further upstream in pricing compared to the Koss..but certainly can't go wrong with the hifiman's..for their price, they're an absolute steal!

aditxmanWell, what exactly do you need them for ? If you want mobile closed cans these probably are fine. If you want just for home/studio, consider the dt770's/32 ohm as i have them and resolution as well as soundstage is great if thats what you need. If you want the 4xx and u want to enjoy them fully, then you need a good dac/amp like an x1s or similar, else they are a waste. They are good to listen to but with propper sources. So if there is between say this koss and the 4xx both from phone or cheap dac...then probably these. If you have a good dacamp and u wanna use em in quiet place, then 4xx for sure. If u in between then consider a dt770 or similar too. Else you can explore the yamaha range, i have the hph200, crappy build but crazy sound and from what ive tried they totally whipe the floor with any sony or bose whatever. On other note, i am also contemplating on these koss so... I'm curious if anyone can tell how they compare to some 770's or similar. But these questions are not easy to answer..as it very much depends on where you plugg them to.
