I need a portable headphone that can isolate well. It’s either these pair or the SP330 both from Koss. Anyone can comment on the sound isolation of the SP330?

BuckbrickTyll Hertsens from Innerfidelity says the isolation of the SP330 is also excellent, though it requires more careful positioning on the ears to achieve a perfect seal. OTOH, the Pro4S earcups are larger, so a perfect seal occurs as soon as you put them on, without effort. Tyll has posted a review of the SP330 on YouTube and has published its measurements on the Innerfidelity website.
BuckbrickI own Pro4s as well as sp330. The isolation of the sp330 is good for on ear, but it doesn't compete with 4s in this respect.
The pro4 line has always made isolation a priority, and while the 4s doesn't match the old 4aa and aat, it is much lighter and more comfortable.
Soundwise, the sp330 has about as smooth, and linear a rolloff as can be found, whereas the 4s keeps the highs low to keep fatigue free, but has very extended upper mids that can be a little too revealing to taste for some.
Of the two, I'd get the 4S.

AlexAltorferYes, I first knew about SP330 from innerfidelity. Must has missed that part on sound isolation.

GiantHeadphoneSquidThanks for the comparison! It’s too bad I can’t audition them. Originally I was looking at the HD 25-ii. It has great isolation bur also cost more.

BuckbrickI just got these Koss Pro4s and I really like them. I also have the SP330, and while I like them, the Sennheiser HD25-1 II is a very big step up in my opinion. I have a bunch of headphones and I can honestly say that the HD25-1 II are my favorite for almost all purposes. I really love the sound of the HD25-1 II most, but the durability and ability to put them on in a way that feels secure and comfortable to me are unmatched by anything else. I do like the SP330 too, and I like the way they sound, but there is no comparison with the HD25-1 II in my opinion. Now it seems you can get HD25 Pro for about $150. I don't know if there is any difference between those and the original model, but they look absolutely identical. I know that's a lot more than this, but if you really are interested I urge you to splurge. I think you'll be glad you did.
