Like Semka says, I would stick with a primus and maybe wait for the next drop. The Omnilite Ti dropped for the same lowest price ($119.99), shipped to NZ for less ($15, as opposed to $21.73) weighs less and burns a greater range of fuels. My only criticism of the Omnilite Ti is the heavy/useless carry bag it comes with, the neoprene case that came with earlier Primus cookers was way better.

I own the Brunton branded version of this Kovea stove and use it for small group cooking, as a third burner for larger groups, and as my primary car camping/hiking stove. It is a good compromise between the pocketrocket style isobutane stoves (designed to quickly boil water for 1-2 people) and the two burner Coleman style propane stoves. It simmers well and is easier to pack as it comes with a nice case that holds the maintenance kit and tools.
It is more flexible than my whisperlight as it runs on whitegas, isobutane, and (with adapters) propane and butane without needing to change its setup. Since I'm not locked into one type of fuel or canister, I have used whitegas/adapted butane for baking and long simmers, then grabbed a 100g canister and gone on a day hike. It is also an all season stove because of the flexibility of fuel options.
Beware though, it is much louder than the other stoves listed above. I wound up purchasing a quietstove adapter to tame the volume to reasonable levels.

The only multi-fuel stoves I recommend are the ones from Primus. Either OmniFuel or Omnilite Ti will work just fine. Both are better made than Kovea, allow for precise simmering and still have a metal pump unlike MSR that has a flimsy plastic one. Primus makes most their stoves in Europe (recently, in Estonia).
Currently, Amazon has a great deal on OmniFuel at $115 (normally $150+).

I would caution any mass drop user from buying this stove. When I saw the video with the fuel line and valve it was obvious. Then the liquid fuel pump gave it away instantly as to the orgin of the kit. Do not buy this if you are looking for a reliable "expedition" or anything stove. I previously purchase a stove that used these very same parts. And wow the build quality was so poor it as sad. This is a very poorly made china stove dont trust your trip and life with it. Buy a msr as the customer service is awesome

I don't know about this stove, but the Kovea spider is highly respected stove in the ultra light backpacking community and prefered over other MSR stoves. For multi-fuel I'd also look at Optimus Nova+ or Polaris, but more expensive. No stove is perfect and YMMV.

rich99There is a chinese made stove the BRS-8 often called the Booster. It is a similar design although the legs are different and the hose detaches from the stove. They are much cheaper. I don't have either stove but I have used Kovea products before and they are quite well regarded.
