Is there anyone experienced with both this and the Kovea Spider? How would the burner on this compare with the Spider?

weggsHi, Weggs,
I have both stoves. The burner head on the Spider is a lot smaller, but I found it more than adequate, and I found that I could cook reasonably well on it. The Hydra has a much bigger head and a more distributed flame -- but for a soloist that might actually be a disadvantage.
The real question in my mind would be: Do you need a) the white gasoline capability of the Hydra? or b) the larger pot stands of the Hydra?
The Hydra is more than 2 X more expensive than the Spider, and it's heavier, so if you don't need white gas capability or a the ability to support really large pots, then I would think the Spider is the way to go.
I've reviewed both stoves. If you're interested, I'll include links to both, below.

hikin_jimThanks hikin_jim! I own the spider, and it is usually my go to stove. I really love it. I generally hike with one other friend, so I don't need larger pot stands or white gas capabilities. I just wondered whether it was a better burner or more reliable/easier to clean and service? I like the inverted cannister stand, but it's probably not strictly necessary or worth joining for.
I like your reviews, and appreciate the reply :)

weggsIf you've got the Spider and it's working for you, then there's no compelling reason to go to the Hydra. I would not say that it's easier to clean and service. The Hydra has a side mounted jet. I wouldn't say that it's horribly difficult to service, but certainly not easier than the Spider.
