Ive used this adaptor with my kovea spider and it was awesome. I also bought this for disaster preparedness. Having this adaptor gives me more flexibility to use different fuel types if the earthquake ever happens here in the PNW. Its heavy, but who cares if you're using it for car camping. And with prices for "backpacking" fuel skyrocketing even as gas gets cheaper, lets remember we're being ripped off when we buy our little backpacking canisters. So don't act surprised and get all in a huff when people figure out effective ways to save money on fuel and keep canisters out of the landfill. Maybe someone could link to a story of someone getting blown up refilling a coleman canister? I can't find one LOL

ultraLIt is true that regulations say you can not transport a refilled small propane tank, but people refill them all the time, it is very common and people are not blowing up, burning up or going to prison. Sure the valve can leak after refilling a small tank but then you should not use it, if you do and are killed, well the IQ of the nation just went up a bit. This is not an endorsement of refilling the small propane tanks, but the fact is that people do and as ultraL said, I do not see stories about explosions. Now I am going to go and rip that tag off my mattress!

MichTrailsThis adapter isn't for refilling... Propane has a higher vapor pressure. This adapter is for connecting a portable camping stove to a disposable 1lbs propane tank fitting so you can use your 1lbs to bulk tanks instead of small butane tanks.

kalieaireYes, thank you for your reply. I was more or less commenting on the people who were ranting about those who refill the 1 lbs tanks. This is an adapter as you said and I am very happy with the way it is working out for me, well worth the cost as it allows me to save my butane/propane canisters for when I am backpacking. And you are correct, this is not an ultralight item, I would not carry this with a normal backpacking load much less when going light weight. As you said, I carry my Trangia alcohol stove or my Firebox Nano when I am going light.

MichTrails@MichTrails - I don't think anyone uses this adaptor to take their propane canister backpacking, but rather the reverse - they use their ultralight stove when car camping.

MichTrailslol sorry my bad, i totally read that wrong. yeah, people who are running around "scurred" don't really understand how mechanical fittings work, let alone social media. I refill my 1lbs tanks. I use some brass fittings to get it done for me, taking out the stem to vent some propane to atmosphere always helps.

DannyMilksYep, that is what I said, the butane canisters (which are butane/propane blend) for backpacking and the adapter for car camping using 1 lbs propane cylinders.

kalieaireI refill mine too using a brass fitting and I haven't "blowed up" yet.

MichTrailsi actually use either a 5 or 20lbs bulk tank with mine. I hook it up two accessory trees and run some additional hoses to stuff further away.

DannyMilksDood, I know "ultra light" sounds awesome and everything. But we need adventure gear as a section.
I just can't wait til we get massdrop setup for truck parts for my Tacoma.
You're missing out on a huge mod community, we're talking about guys who spend like 20-50 grand on their trucks over the course of 10 years. That's a lot of continuous growth for your team since people are always buying trucks and modifying them.

kalieaireGee, wish I could read Korean. As far as the 5 pound tank, they are so expensive here that I just refill the small tanks or take the larger 20 lb tank with me and run a hose off of that.

MichTrailsYeah, the 5lbs tank I have is more for weekend trips to power my snowpeak GS1000. If it's a longer trip or for cold weather, I'll take the 20lbs tank and use it to run my Mr Heater Hero forced air heater and my Mr Heater Buddy to keep my camper shell on my Tacoma warm. I did this in 15f weather at Yosemite and it was fantastic. It got so hot I slept on top of my sleeping bag in my camper, outside we made an improvised kotatsu with a sheet of reflectix.
Epic ghettoness, but toasty warm when you realize you left the firewood at home.
