Thank you all for your feedback, I appreciate it!
We did our best to try and add value to this limited edition LAMY pen by adding a notebook and an extra bottle of ink, but we understand that this drop is clearly not something you all are interested in, so we're going to shut it down early.
We'll keep doing our best to source more interesting items, and work out better pricing for the community in the meantime. Thanks again for chiming in - we really do take this to heart!
LizIt's a shame, really. Lamy could have had a blockbuster on their hands if they were just a bit less conservative. If this limited edition was made of titanium, carbon fiber, or even aluminum those 5000 units would have sold out in no time, even at $500+.

Sort of sad that this is the first Lamy offering on Massdrop where the company has 'permitted' shipping to Canada... I suspect that's another sign of desperation on Lamy's part. Hopefully some lessons will be learned here.

geemoneybeActually... this is an error that has been corrected. As with all LAMY drops, we can only ship within the US. :(

LizOh... Okay. Guess I'm glad I wasn't interested, then. :-)
You have to blame this one on Lamy, not Massdrop. Lamy apparently have no clue who their customer base is and have completely misinterpreted the success of the 2000. Completely off the mark. I mean the arrow made a full 360 and right into their collective posterior. And Lamy can't afford to correct course on the Black Amber, either. Because a) they need to fiercely guard their brand name premium and b) they can't afford to alienate their most loyal customers, the ones who actually bought the BA at full price.

Not that I'm going to buy into this drop because the pricing is nothing special and my wedding is 3 weeks away, but when nib size does this pen come with?
EDIT: as of right now, the order form only gives options for black or gold filofax notebook.

The is not a deal. This is a farce, portrayed by Lamy where I believe Massdrop has got sucked into it, unknowingly. The Black amber 2000 line from Lamy is there 50th anniversary special edition, and 5000 of said until were expected to be made. When they hit retailers, no one was permitted to discount the pricing, and at $590 MSRP, they were not moving. So some retailers had resorted to selling this pen with a bonus Lamy 2000 regular edition (makrolon model, I believe) for free. So you spent $590, and got about $750 (590+160) worth of pens. Still a tall order, given that this spec. ed. pen is basically just their steel model with a tinted clear coat applied. Just my perspective and of course your opinion may be different. I'm out for this drop. I have a Makrolon 2000 which I love (thanks MD), and I won't be looking for a steel model any time soon.

The Lamy 2000 has a MSRP of $120 USD. This pen is the exact same pen, but in a different color.
Lamy is charging 500% more for a color change on one of their pens. Absolutely Absurd.
Lamy has also stopped shipping Extra Fine nibs to the west because of "growing demand in Asia".
I rate this product, and Lamy's business practices :

GarbageManthis one is steel, not makrolon. the MSRP of the normal stainless steel Lamy 2000 is $375 (though of course prices are closer to $250 in the actual market). it's still technically a 60% markup, which is not terrible for a limited edition of 5000 i suppose.
on the whole i agree with you, though. i'm not a collector and i would consider this pen seriously if the price weren't ridiculous.
and, yes, this may be the saddest drop ever.

GarbageManTo be fair it's more a copy of the Lamy 2000 stainless steel version with a different finish, which has an MSRP of $375. Still overpriced for what it is in my opinion, but you have to expect that for a limited edition pen.

STILL A BUST ON MASSDROP!! HAHAHAHA This whole thing is killing me. Also, while we're hating, what about Lamy not shipping EF nibs to the US anymore? DUMB!!!

1 cent of rrp... Massdrop does realize that there are other retailers who wont take a month to ship, who will also check the nib for you and will throw in a free lamy 2000 Makrolon right?

It was Goulet Pens, and it isn't available anymore, I don't believe. Shame.
