I'm not going to buy this, but I have the rollerball version of this pen. Short review below.
Looks: 8/10 I love the way it looks. It's simple, elegant, looks like something that was meant to be used. That said, other people don't react as positively to it and many don't believe it's a quality pen as I think they're expecting it to be more gaudy. If you're going to buy one of these, you've got to like the way it looks and not care so much about what others think.
Function: 9/10 Writes very nicely (rollerball model, anyway). Feels good in the hand. The cap can be smushed on to the back of the pen when you are writing but I've noticed it will occasionally fall off if you don't really smush it in there. No other complaints.
Price: 5/10 I feel like this pen could be cheaper. It's quality, but it's not like it's made of exceptionally high priced components or anything.
Overall, I like the pen, but at the same time I can't give it a glowing recommendation. It's a nice one.

austingThis is a reasonable price for a gold nibbed pen and macralon I have heard is harder to work with since it's a resin fiberglass compound. I don't think, from a business standpoint, LAMY could really wholesale these to massdrop for much less than they did. I'm assuming it was pretty low due to the $100 price massdrop is offering.
Edit; and I think your review is misleading because you are reviewing a different product. The rollerball didnt offer a piston fill mechanism or a 14k gold nib Or an ink window. All of which are amazing things to consider.

austingI understand your price rating for the rollerball version, but for the gold nibbed fountain pen version, I think the price is worth it. There are very few brands offering gold nibs around $100.

austingonce you've tipped your toe in high-end FPs, you'd have a new perspective on pens' value LOL
