Hi Folks,
This is a great price for a great pen. In fact, this was the first thing I purchased on Massdrop over 2 years ago. At the time I was getting a great deal (about $105). This is (obviously) a better deal.
If you've thought about getting this pen, do it. Now. If you get it and you don't like it, you can probably resell it for close to what you paid.
While I've written a fair bit about this particular pen in this thread (just scroll down ... you'll find 'em - eventually), I wanted to reiterate a few things:
1. The Fine and the EF nibs seem to write a very similar line. To me, the fine nib has a noticeably larger sweet spot.
2. With the cap posted, it's incredibly well balanced. Without the cap, it seems a bit front heavy.
3. If they don't have the nib size you're looking for, consider 2 alternatives: (1) Keep revisiting the page. If someone leaves the drop before the end of the window, the reserved pen becomes "up for grabs" again. (2) Consider buying a larger nib than you might otherwise. At this price, you might be able to swing some customization from a nibmeister. The larger the nib, the more options you and the nibmeister have.
4. When securely capped, the pen is pretty durable although you might want to get a sleeve for it if you plan to use it on the go. That said, when not capped, the nib is pretty fragile. If you drop it on a hard surface it will almost certainly land on the nib because of the weight of the section. Then you'll probably need to take it to a nibmeister (and you'll be wishing you picked a bigger nib).
If I didn't already have the pen, I'd go in on this drop. I've never seen the price (technically) under $100 for a new L2K.
As usual, hope this helps.
Cheers.
