CWHSGHey @CWHSG,
Thanks for asking, the diameters are: Cap 0.6 in (1.4 cm), barrel 0.5 (1.2 cm), grip 0.3 in (0.8 cm).
I've added those to the description as well.

Really sad to see this drop fail. Hopefully it will be brought back at a time when there are less competitive pens on Massdrop!

LonelyersHey @Lonelyers -- 1st on the drop! I'm glad you saw that this came back again so quickly.
Jim Lanier has been very interested in the Massdrop community. We're currently running a drop for some Lanier upright pen stands that were the most popular choice in a poll, so Jim offered to make the Classic Elite available again with lower drop quantities to help make it successful.

Hopefully @SchwudyFoodie and a few others who were on board last time can re-join as well!
I have pens made with the JoWo nibs--medium. I see them offered in ranges from $140-$155 depending on the material, from local artisans (I think that is what they call themselves--if not no offense intended!) I own 4 and have given 1 as a gift. Bought the first one about 10 years ago and still use it frequently.
I'm joining the drop, but keep reading if you are interested in my experience. I do not know this company--I'm just speaking to the nib. But to the person dissing this company because it is made from a kit, I respectfully submit that the person using the kits are enormously important to the outcome. If you believe you can buy the beginnings and produce a thing of beauty without meaningful effort in selecting the materials, the specific parts of the material, and completing the work; I wonder if you might have a more optimistic assessment of your "eye" than what others of us would see.
The beauty really is dependent on the eye of the maker, they vary. I've purchased from 3 different artists. The quality of the turning seems the same, the quality of what is used as the sealer to protect the wood or create the shine seems to vary by maker.
The good: It is cool to be able to match the threads to make any design match up when it is closed. It isn't cool that when capped it doesn't have a firm start and stop place-- it comes loose (not off, just loose) sometimes when I carry it in my handbag (in a protected pocket but still jostled as my arm swings or I reach into the bag for other things). Not a big issue, I just make sure it isn't one of the pens I grab for my handbag when I'm going someplace.
3 our of the 5 pens wrote beautifully immediately and still do. I have a light pressure on paper and they have still open a bit after time to a thicker line than right out of the box-- but I would call them a true medium. The flow is not wet nibs but not dry either. I write a lot, and have enjoyed these pens with several brands and colors of ink. There is difference in flow from ink to ink, but not a lot, and they have handled all of them beautifully.
2 of the five are a challenge--(REMEMBER ONLY TALKING ABOUT THE JoWo NIBS) --they don't flow but for a few words at a time and then I have to shake them or suck on them to get them going again. I've flushed with water and with the pen flush that is available (and worked well with some really old gunked up pens I got at a garage sale), and I've soaked. I've also looked at the nibs through my loop -- thinking if it was something obvious about just being misaligned I could fix it. But they look fine--so if I tried to fine-tune them, I would probably wreck them. I've done these things many times--I'm one of those fools who expect a different outcome by trying the same thing again. Someday if I ever get to a pen show or run into somebody who repairs fountain pens I'm going to have them look at the nibs for me or maybe replace them.
I also own some of the high end pens with the special nibs and there are some differences in writing with them and the "regular" nibs. Some of them are indeed a joy, others less noticeable of a difference. Even the best ones are not enough so as to prevent me from enjoying writing with all of my pens (except the 2 aforementioned--but I have hope for them). The comment somebody made below about the buyer just needs to know that it is the barrel and cap that is special and the writing tool itself is more of an ordinary pen. Which is great for me.
I'm committing to join at the 99.99--although it doesn't look very hopeful! I like that the company says they rigorously test each pen. I hope that means they write a significant amount before they pass it.
I assume that somebody in this group has experience with the company or it wouldn't be on the drop. If I knew more about that I might go for the current rate of $124.99--but since I don't I'm staying conservative for the $100. The amount of testing mine received was at point of purchase and then just a phrase or two.
Now what color? They all look pretty. Anybody seen then in real life and can describe them the colors in more detail?
