I got this the last time around. What a pain in the butt to use! holy crap...the clamps don't have any rubber on them, so clamping it hard enough to actually secure the blade is a pain. the sharpening motion is very awkward. I absolutely hate the system.

spc_9213And the rods are almost never level and straight, which is very important. I gave up on all bargain sharpeners, got a Wicked Edge and have not regrets.

Dhill21Does the Wicked Edge have a fairly dummy-proof technique to it? Would it work ok for a knife with a light recurve?

OmniseedI actually havent used it on any recurves but I do know there are a ton of YouTube videos that would probably go over it. It’s not dummy proof, you do have to pay close attention to the instructions, but once you get it down, it’s fairly easy to be consisten. The biggest challenge is that many factories sharpen by hand and the angles are almost never exact on each side. But it’s usual best to sharpen at whatever angle is sharpest, for example if one side is 19 degrees and the other is 20, just try to sharpen both at 19, that’s just what’s been easiest for me, otherwise one side will have a higher bevel than the other.

OmniseedRound stones/rods for recurve blades. Flat won't all hit the blade areas. Just throwing it out there in case others dont know.

Dhill21Your right the lansky system isn't dummy proof, but when you learn to use it you can get a knife hair whittling sharp,I have a kme system so I don't use my lansky much. But with the addition of the sapphire stone I have got Elmax steel on a ZT566 hair whittling sharp.
