I was going to observe, as many other of these comments indicate, that this is not a savings! Most other drops on which I've jumped in appear to represent substantial to fairly supstantial savings. ...or am I fooling myself? What's everybody's experience: mass drops -- not good / good / great value?

NhouzThis was significantly cheaper when I picked it up previously... keep in mind that with this business model they won't always be able to obtain products at the same price. Massdrop is a group buy site, just like individuals catching good sales, massdrop sometimes finds good deals, sometimes not. If someone makes an online purchase and doesn't cross shop with other sites I have no pity for them. A fool and their money are soon parted...

ElectronicVicesTouché. ...and that is exactly why I asked the question: comparing this price to others posted online, this did not seem to be a good buy and I was surprised because the drops I have dug into have been... so I was wondering if I was missing something. I'll respectfully add, i guess I find your comment a bit offensive... shouldn't we as a community precisely have pity & help avert bad purchases made by all members & MD itself. So I would say: right back at you! ...Not such a great buy. Maybe you should have cross-shopped more or held out for a better number.

ElectronicVicesWell, in that case MD is in the middle of the dry spell or something because there's a lot of other drops, in various categories, that feature products that can be had elsewhere with no waiting and at the same price if not cheaper. It seems the group-buy ideology has failed and MD is simply selling stuff at the same price as any other retailer while retaining the ridiculously long lead times. On top of that, MD has severely curtailed international shipping on a lot of items. Personally, I'm of opinion that MD is going the way of the dodo and will soon be just one more example of the many failed business models that just couldn't compete in the modern world.

NhouzIt appears you might have missed the line " This was significantly cheaper when I picked it up previously"... Roughly 1/3 cheaper to be more precise. I did compare this to every retail source I could find, at the time MD was the cheapest by far. That is not the case now and instead of posting about it (come across as entitled and whiny), the most effective thing anyone could do is spend their money elsewhere. Why should you hold MD accountable for someone not willing to spend 5 minutes with a search engine to validate pricing???

Futhermore, I would think MD would appreciate its members working collectively to the benifit of the MD community: that is the basis of this model, no? ...getting all ass-burned when other contributing members asks for clarification or observe a drop may not be all its cut out to be, does not seem terribly helpful. But what do I know? Maybe you missed when I wrote: Most... drops... appear to represent substantial...savings. I like what MD is doing... I will tell you is this: you would have appeared much less ignorant if you had simply ended your response with your explaination of the buying process, challanges, etc. and left out, "If someone makes an online purchase and doesn't cross shop... I have no pity for them. A fool and their money are soon parted..." It seems to me that, I would not be criticising and judging others for noticing or trusting: shooting the messanger does not negate the message or change the fact that this may not be a great buy. I appreciate it when others in the community share their observations and experiences and, truth be told, I appreciate you mentioning your experience with the previous drop: Its interesting and helpful. Your attacs... not so much.

ElectronicVicesWell posting allows people that just assume MD has the best deals all the time. And educates them this is not the truth. Plus I appreciate when people post the URL of other sites with deals. Or do price comparisons, as every new drop the comments stay attached. And gives you a good idea of past prices. I have had to call MB on prices in the past just With the info posted in comments. Even to the point they charged the price because it was more expensive then previous drop
