- Blade is weird as others note - Covered in grease was not a pleasant surprise

Just got mine directly from the leatherman website. Black oxide was still a bit cheaper than the plain stainless drop here and also includes free shipping. Should have it by the weekend.
Lots of good reviews on this tool and couldn't find any decent competitors can't wait to add this tool to my kit.

I notice in the picture that the standard blade has a weird curve, or recurve to it. It actually looks like poor manufacturing, and the blade has too much material ground away from the edge.
I noticed something like this on the Wave I received during the last Wave drop, but not as much material was removed.
While functionally this shouldn't affect anything, it drives me crazy when I get a knife like this. When it seems the quality control is lacking, and the blade doesn't seem right for some reason or another.
Can someone comment on this? All of the Leathermen I've owned in my life never had this weird overgrind.
Is Leatherman quality control going down the drain? Or is Leatherman cutting their losses, using their sub-spec waste parts, and banking that people won't care?
It's disturbing to me as I have a baseline expectation of what I want in a brand new piece of gear that I've paid good money for.

K.T.NJust got mine today from the Leatherman website and I can confirm that the knife blade does have a slightly weird shape to it. However quality wise the bevel seems even and is very sharp. I haven't found anything like this is on the other tools or blades.
When I opened mine the first thing I noticed was that the whole thing was covered in oil and grease, so have a rag nearby and be prepared for a messy unboxing and break-in experience.
Overall I'm very happy with it's build quality everything seems very sturdy and overbuilt for a multi tool. Another feature I didn't know is that every single tool except the pillars gets its locked-out when fully deployed.
Mine came with a 2 sided file I can use in the blade exchange( comes with saw attachment installed) and also a 2 sided Robertson bit I can swap out with the Phillips /Flat head bit. I also got a sleeve that holds both attachments and fits into a separated pocket at the back of the included sheath. The sheath is not good mine has manufacturing defects and is on the cheap end of the spectrum so be weary if you like or plan to use it .

I have a Wave that I love, and it shares many of these features. What concerns me is that there are no pics of the files, small screwdriver (smaller than an eyeglasses, Phillips/flat reversible, screwdriver), and I guess I need to research the Surge further, as I have no idea what the tool exchanger thing is. Unless they count being able to switch larger driver bits as a function unto itself...??? But seems like a good price, and the black coating is also quite tempting, I've seen other models with it, but they are much harder to find in my experience. When I do see those versions it seems they are a lot more than $5 more than the stainless counterpart. If I can figure out the file, tool exchanger, and mini screwdriver that I don't see in any of these pics, I may jump in. Seems my Wave is in my car when I need it elsewhere, or elsewhere when I need it in the car. ;-).

I own this tool, not from md. The blade exchange allows you to remove tools and add on. The saw blade can be replaced by a lot of Bosch blades. Much longer. The bit driver allows you to use any of the driver bits in the tool kit, sold separately. The wire cutter blades can also be replaced when worn, nicked etc.

VajtagalThanks for the response! Im still confused about the files mentioned in the description, Are they something that you have to swap into place as well?

Why does the shipping have to cost so much? $21.25 extra to ship to Singapore. i rather get from amazon.
Hey @HalJordon, @jpjpjp, @OMEGA246,
Thanks for flagging that, we've updated the drop page to properly reflect the Leatherman Surge being offered in this drop. The Sidekick is not an option this time around, sorry for any confusion!

I'm seeing the same tool/sheath on Amazon for $99.85 with free shipping . $3.11 isn't a whole lot of savings.

SitwonIt still is saving some money, wouldn't you rather spend $3.11 less?

ytsu12Yes, but since I don't *need* to have it right now I don't find $3.11 to be motivating enough to join the drop. If I needed it, I likely would have bought it on Amazon already and taken advantage of the immediate shipping. So I'll sit this one out until it's cheaper or until I have a more pressing need to buy it.

The pictures are of a black Leatherman Surge and a silver Leatherman SideKick. What's the deal, just a mistake?
