Named after the brother of Cerberus—the multi-headed hound of Hades—the Orthos from Lew & Huey features solid construction and bold styling. The 42-millimeter case is made from stainless steel to match the stainless steel band. It houses a slightly domed sapphire crystal and Seiko NH35: an automatic movement of 24-jewels with a 41-hour power reserve. Atop the face is a unidirectional rotating bezel in striking orange. It clicks 120 times for precise measurement of elapsed time. The Orthos features a screw-down crown and is 300-meter water resistant.
Note: At checkout, choose between the blue dial w/ orange bezel and the red dial w/ gray bezel. 20 units are available for each model. You will also have the option to add a 22 mm rubber strap (+ $20) or a 22 mm leather strap (+ $35) in the color of your choice.
The first thing you’ll notice about the Orthos is its lustrous dial in deep blue. When held at different angles, the dial appears to radiate out from the center in a sunburst pattern, which further draws the eye to the center. The applied indexes are thick, rectangular, lumed, and white for maximum visibility. As for the hands, they’re also bold and chunky. The seconds hand has a bright orange tip to match the bezel. Also notable is the date window at 3 and the Lew & Huey dog logo at 12—another tie-in to the watch’s name.
