Casual gamer here. If I were willing to sacrifice the quality of my IPS for this would it be worth it? I ask because as much as I love my U2412M, I do experience some lag/tearing in some games. I'm also only currently running a 270x and even though I know it may not be capable of exercising the full potential of the LG, I plan on building a whole new box this year.

DasPikeOnly if you play shooters. Otherwise it's not worth getting 144 Hz. That said, I have a 34" ultrawide and a 27" BenQ 1080p 144 Hz. I play games on the 27" no probs. It's not that much worse.
