Last drop it was $700. I guess these monitors need expensive memory chips or there's a shortage of them lol

AnzialCorrect. The last drop was $699.99 + $30 Shipping = Final Price $729.99. We are $30 higher on this drop as cost have gone up on these monitors. You can see that by doing a quick google search and find that the cheapest price out there for a new one is about $999.99 where as before when we were selling at $699.99 the competition price was at $799.99.
Previous drop = Total savings of $70 Current drop = Total savings of $240
So yes, we are $30 higher than the last drop 6 months ago. Prices go up and down in the tech market all the time so you will not always be able to get the same prices over time.

Tex-ArozziNice job making up excuses for price hikes. Only they don't work, do they? 2 days later and there are no takers for this monitor.
As for your explanation, it's completely bogus. Tech markets do not experience up and down pricing, there's only one trend on tech markets - prices go down. There exceptions, sure, but this monitor ain't a videocard used for mining. I hazard to guess this model is about to be phased out of the production and replaced by a newer model. As soon as it happens, the prices on this one will drop through the floor and anyone who buys it will feel ripped off.

AnzialWhat an unnecessarily catty response. You've made yourself look like an ass, even if you had a point worth sharing. Present yourself better. Massdrop offers a lot of monitors, and each one hits a different sweet spot for different people for price, quality, and performance for whatever purpose they're optimizing for. Their Vast 35" drop is an example that they know how to pick tech with wide appeal and how to price it so that all parties win (if they were willing to be patient, which wasn't me). This is not your usual mass market product, with lots of competing companies essentially using the same primary component shaving nickel and dimes off their bill of materials or quality control to race to the bottom on price. Go take a look at how many 17:9 monitors are out there. The only other that I came across was a EIZO CG318-4K-BK that sells for about $5k. These are niche, professional grade products which sell in lower quantities, and people seek them out for specific applications or advantages, so they aren't subject to the same market pressures as the type of technology you're referencing. LG may have an announcement right around the corner of something 20% better, but seeing as it created it's own price/performance/quality niche with this product line, it can wait until it's current stock winds down, and price up the newer tech accordingly. Or if it overestimated the appeal or reception of this tech at this price, it may scrap it altogether and absorb the loss.
Even with its unique business model, I doubt that Massdrop sets its prices unilaterally. Also, it's an increase of ~4%. They're not gouging you.

mcscr_atxAnd your response is useful how? This drop is just another example of MD rising prices and not offering anything else in return. In any case, prove me wrong, and order one already, because no one really cares about your or hutch's blah-blah, they only care about the price, and this one ain't working so well, does it?
Bottomline: this is an outdated model, newer ones with more advanced tech (i.e. HDR) are already on the market at similar prices. Try to sell this at new tech prices is, let's say, is unwise. This is obvious from how no one has bought a single unit 4 days into the drop unlike the last drop where scores of this were sold.

AnzialReally? Memory and other components are a commodity that do change price based on supply and demand. The math demonstrated above does not show you that? Is anyone forcing you to shop on MD? Just curious since i sense slight negativity from your comment.

Tex-ArozziThank you for everything that you do and provide on MD. I know it is easy to get caught up in the negativity of some of these comments and they tend to be the squeakier wheel. I just wanted you to know there are us out there that really appreciate what you do and how hard you work for all of us to get great deals on great product. Thank you!
PcutsThank you Sir. I appreciate you as well and it was awesome of you to say so. Thank you!

Tex-ArozziYour circle jerk notwithstanding, did you sell a single monitor at this inflated price?
