I love this.
I would love to get this but id sooner drop 700 on the pc before the peripherals.
LG Has a 2K version of this monitor for 550$ why would you buy this one? LMAO

I dont think you notice too much of a difference above 100, and given it is 1080p for that price no way.
MiscoucheGuy
Whether or not you notice a difference is up to you. When a statement is subjective, you simply cannot speak for everyone because it is subjective. I am actually considering purchasing this to replace my Acer predator z35p because with my i7@5ghz, 20gb RAM, and 1080ti, I simply cannot run some of the games I own at 2k on ultra settings above 100fps. Sure a lot of games aren't a problem, but a lot of the newer games are just too demanding for ultra settings at 2k. Also, this is an ultrawide IPS panel with Gsync, which is not common. Rarity drives up the price.
For those considering this, Costco currently has it for $599 via their website for members.

Can you include a screenshot of that? I tried to look but you have to pay to be a member.

Thank god y’all are finally dropping g-sync. Hope you continue to.
Its a shame this is only 1080p, just not worth it. I, like many others would definitely go for it if it were 1440.

Too over priced if it is only 1080
However the 144hz can be useful if you want a more fast pace experience in more competitive games at like 1080. It's just nice to have the option of having both resolutions u know?
Now this is the price it was supposed to go for in the first place, not the $900+ MD was seeking in the first few failed drops.
Why does every "Gaming Monitor" have to sport either a red and black color scheme with some weird angular design on the back or #2 modern silver themed casing that everyone and there brother have. Every other computer part or peripheral has all different forms and colors and lighting options it seems.
I love how these monitor makers try to hide the fact that the monitor is 1080P( have to scroll to the bottom of the specs to find it) . If it was 1440P it would be in the title of the listing/drop.
Mwahaha, Amazon sells this monitor for $10 less than MD. Grab while it's hot! Me thinks LG quietly reduced the price on the monitor while MD was listing this drop @Tarnix https://www.amazon.com/LG-34UC89G-B-34-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B0728JH3RQ Can someone tell me if there's any real reason to buy it at MD right now? When you can buy pretty much anywhere else with immediate shipping for the same money or even less than what MD offers it at (which is the current official LG MSRP) @B.Hutch you might wanna renegotiate the pricing with your vendor lol. Get it down the magical $750 or so, should be in the realm of possibility now that the official MSRP is $900. I would also strongly suggest allowing international shipping for monitors again, even at inflated shipping price you might be surprised how many people might bite. But we both know you are not going to do that since that's not the real reason why you removed the international shipping option for monitors.
Anzial
And Costco has it for $599.
According to LGs website, $899 is the MSRP, not $999. Why does massdrop always have to lie to us about the real price? http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-34UC89G-B-ultrawide-monitor

Well LG is slowly coming to the realization that they can't sell it at such premium compared to the freesync alternative. 😠 Give a few more months and the pricing might become reasonable yet😯
Tarnix
Because their "sales" or "drops" are never actually "good" 90% of the time.
Ewww 1080p.
PSA: MD can sell exact same monitor minus gsync for whopping $400 less! That's almost half the price of this POS gsync monitor https://www.massdrop.com/buy/lg-34-144hz-curved-ultrawide-monitor-34uc79g-b

I'm not disagreeing with anyone about the fact that this montiors base price is higher than it should be. I'm trying to put it in perspective that MD only has so much room to adjust the price with their vendors and the base price.
Nobody holds a gun to MD's head to sell THIS POS monitor. 😈Plenty of more reasonably priced gsync monitors out there😀so of course MD has the room to maneuver 😋
I think the main issue with these selling here is that unless the cost savings is very significant most buyers will purchase through Amazon or Newegg (for example) where they know the return process will be very simple and customer friendly. I buy a lot of stuff from Massdrop but not big ticket electronics that I can find on Amazon where I feel better protected on return policies not to mention receiving the item much more quickly. Not a slam on Massdrop but simply the nature of the beast. Massdrop is my "harder to find items" and "at a great price" store.
This seems like the ultimate 1080p for Nvidia gamers. But if I could afford this, I could probably afford a 1080ti and 1440p LCD.

you do not have the 1080TI TRIO which is probably the 2nd or 3rd best 1080TI ever made, also my system is a BIT stronger of a build than the specs you say,no im not trying to have a pissing contest, but i can play Fortenite at max settings can easily keep 120 FPS and many other games at that or higher,it depends on the games cap on FPS rate.
Amra
You do not have an ultrawide monitor as you stated earlier. You are playing at 2560x1440 or roughly 3. 7M pixels. The ultrawide in discussion is 3440x1440 or roughly 5M pixels. That means the graphics card has to push roughly 25% more pixels for this ultrawide versus your setup. I am sure now you now see the validity of my previous point, that a 1080ti cannot keep a steady 144FPS for many new games on maximum settings, including Fortnite, with a 1440p ultrawide monitor. The difference between your graphics card and mine is very minute, the difference being the core clocks of 1683MHz vs 1670MHz, respectively. The 13MHz (or 0.8%) difference is very slim and will make barely any difference in FPS capability--maybe 1 or 2 frames per second faster... MAYBE. I am very impressed that you have a better graphics card than me though--congratulations.
Oh. US shipping only. Again. Of course. I wonder why massdrop is even available outside US, 90% of drops are US only.
Cineticmantis
You can buy this screen at B&H for $2 less than here AND with international shipping (that one's expensive but on par with what MD used to charge for monitor international shipping in the past) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1335260-REG/lg_34uc89g_b_34_21_9_curved_ultrawide.html
Unfortunately there is not a 144hz 3440x1440p ultrawide around, that is why this monitor is so expensive because of the 144hz and IPS. Now for everyone complaining that it is only 2560x1080p, you will never notice that in games, it is only noticeable when doing other desktop tasks. And try pushing 3440x1440p at high/ultra settings and try to get 144fps in most games. That is almost as hard as trying to push 4k at 144fps. To drive new games at 3440x1440p at 144fps you will need 1080/1080 ti SLI. At 2560x1080p a single 1080 or 1080 ti can easily push games at ultra settings at 144fps. That is why 2560x1080p is better for gaming than 3440x1440p for the time being.

I'm certainly not a competitive online gamer and I agree with what you said about having an advantage with a higher refresh rate and the lower resolution. I'm about the immersion with smooth gameplay and high resolution.
your exactly right because i do that now. scaling down to anything thats not the recommended resolution looks like crap. Its playable but ugly compared to a native 1080p monitor. Hardware just isnt there for 144hz 1440p, not to mention the standard even isnt.
900$ for a 1080p monitor??? I don't care how 'nice' the other features are, that's an awful deal.
jlp0027
At this size I would tend to agree.
Nvidia, keeping G-sync out of the masses hands. :D
It does sound expensive, but suffice to say, it is a pretty good deal ($975 on Amazon & NewEgg), for a G-sync IPS Ultrawide Curved display. I believe Linus reviewed it just a couple of days ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cKX9S7o5tg
NightFury
Nope, it's a shit deal when you can get freesync version of same monitor for $300 less and no waiting 🙄 https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16824025424
Still too expensive for what it offers. Try again, MD.
I want to add my two cents to the discussion about 1440 vs 1080 resolutions, I played on my friends Acer 34" G-sync monitor and it was an incredible experience, he has a 1080gtx and was getting frame rates between 75 and 100. I thought the most significant improvement was the pixel density, especially when lining up long distance shots in FPS games. The monitor I use at home is a 29" ultrawide LG @75hz, (2560x1080) when comparing the two, it feels like I'm looking through a screen door when compared to the 34" 1440p monitor he has. Someone will probably say that it doesn't matter unless you are playing 8" from the monitor; well, sometimes I do find myself sitting that close to the monitor when it gets intense. My eyes are still perfect and able to take advantage of that sweet, sweet pixel pitch of the 1440p res on that 34" screen.
FYI if you don't care about G-Sync the same exact monitor without G-Sync is only $600. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LW5CGIS/?tag=pcpapi-20
Ok, on the debate between 1080 and 1440p. I currently own a 34" 1080p (the XZ350CU). I'll give my personal experience.
It is not bad at all. In fact, I love it. Despite the fact that I intended to buy the Z35, I have learned to live without GSync.
In games, the pixel density makes no difference to me. I prefer the easier load on my GPU. My room is already hot in the summer. I prefer the deeper blacks from the MVA panel over the IPS panel available at the time (X34).
For text, 1080p is what I've used for years and years so it doesn't bother me. I use 1080p to code at work. No, it's not as crisp as my iPhone's Retina screen, or my 15" touchbar Macbook Pro. But it's just fine, it doesn't make me suffer, I get done whatever I need to get done. It's perfect for 1080p videos.
I made these decisions over a year ago when I bought it. IMO mine is a great entertainment-focused monitor, this one would be similar.
This would be a great drop but it's the same price as the Acer Z35 right now. Main difference being VA panel, 1", and brand.
tangman
I'm shocked that a professional coder would prefer 1080p. That crowd always clamor for high resolution screens. A lot of the 4k monitors showed on the market to address coders' demand, without it 4k selection would be much smaller
For all who don't realize what a great deal this is and think that 1440p is a better deal try looking up what a 1080ti can do right now at 1440p. It ain't close to 144hz. Till the GPU market catches up stick with 1080p for higher refresh rates. Unless you have 3 1080tis in your system. With all the problems that come with it. And poor performance to boot. But since you have been spoon fed acer and asus dribble may as well keep chomping down. My only grip is the timing is bad and I can't participate.

If I'm a troll, at least I'm a troll who's right about this drop being bad. Looks like no one was convinced by your "what a great deal this is" shill, there's still just one buyer of this screen with one hour to go till the end of the drop.
I bet making fun about a person with disabilities makes you feel big and strong, doesn't it? Nice going dude, laugh at the expense of a half-blind man. We'll see how you how you enjoy people laughing at your infirmities when you are old and half-blind.
Seeing that title, I was really hoping for an alternative to the Acer X34 that is always requested but never drops here. 1080p Ultrawide just doesn't seem useful in the current market.

1080 ti supports DP 1.4 now
Take it for what it is, its not an official manufacturers road map, so this are just rumors, that kinda of gives you a uncertain future of what to expect for monitors. That monitor will happen, when..... i would think its going to go to early 2018. Now the one you were talking about its a different model all together, its the Gsync version of the 34UC79G-B, that to me its way overpriced for what it is. But they are different monitors, the one you are thinking is a sub $1k monitor, the upcoming will be $1k+, my guess is going to retail around $1300.
1080p loool

Would you stop with your bullshit? Even integrated GPU can do 1440p @144hz in lots of games 😰
Zetto
BAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA................ok ok ok I'm done. ........BAH HA HA HA HA HA. No really ha.
I dont get it, Gsync should increase the pricing as its a proprietary Nvidia thing.... but it should be $100 to 150 tops. This monitor should be on massdrop around $650-700.

Its not about getting it or not, its doesn't matter that LG is the one fixing the pricing, the reality is simple, the monitor simply is not worth the $929, and its very likely that drop wont happen, either LG drops down the price or this monitor will never sell on massdrop, and its sad, because to me its an attractive monitor, ill would probably buy 3 for a sim racing rig around $700.
Abula
Agreed, and yet certain individuals just love to tout how great this drop is, despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary - no one (except one person) has bit!
Howdy Everyone,
I want to address something on this drop. Yes its true you can get a similar monitor to this one WITHOUT GSYNC for $300-$400 less and some of them will have freesync also. However, if you look at every monitor drop on Massdrop (which we drop alot of monitors) that has freesync there is also a big crown that is requesting GSYNC.
GSYNC monitors are much more expensive than other monitors. We are trying to offer here what so many people in the community have requested by discussions and polls. A 34" , 144hz, ultrawide, GSYNC monitor. If you can find another monitor with these exact specs, which includes GSYNC for less than we are offering here please let me know.
Cheers.

Yeah 1070 isn't going to even touch 1440p at 144hz. It's going to struggle for 45 really at that resolution. LG pretty much makes the screens for acer and asus. I would say go with LG they know what they are doing.
PerpetualVoid
LG makes only the panels for acer and asus but acer and asus fill the monitor with their own electronics which makes all the difference. LG makes consumer products, asus/acer focus on enthusiast market, and LG has very LITTLE experience with the latter unlike asus/acer.
I bought the LG 34UC79G-B on Prime Day for 499. Same monitor without G-Sync but with Freesync. The extra $429 is not worth it.
