How much did this monitor go for when it dropped?
If I order it from Germany, what additional cost do I need to calculate? Thanks
Hi. If i order this monitor from Hungary (EU) , i have to pay extra VAT or Not? Thhank you. Bye Gabor
I want to buy an ultrawide monitor but the advantages of dual screen is too hard to give up. As a workaround, I would like to use the ultrawide in side-by-side (or 2560x1440 + 880x1440 if possible) PIP mode and have both video input come from the same desktop. Would this approach get the result I want and would Window recognize this setup as two monitors?
Does it support MacBook Air
Bhrob01
Yes, This monitor has thunderbolt connections and many people in our office use this exact monitor with Macbook Air's.
PSA before purchase - LG's 3440x1440 displays do NOT support 2560x1440 resolutions out of the box for letterboxed 16:9 content. They are limited to 1920x1080 for this content. You will need Custom Resolution Utility (CRU), or a similar program/app to force this resolution.

Thanks for your response Medion. Very insightful. It's interesting that none of these have even approached 120Hz. Not that I'm doing anything at 120fps, but still even 90 seems difficult.
One last question, you said the Acer "cannot do 2560x1440 for legacy content out of box (you can fix this with CRU)." What did you mean by that?

Ok, let's take your standard 1920x1080 monitor. If you play an old game at 640x480, you can run this in a window, or full-screen. Most 1920x1080 monitors will support 640x480, but you will have black bars (letter boxing) on the sides.
Now, a 3440x1440 monitor should be able to do 2560x1440 full-screen but with letterboxing on the sides. The LG cannot (I've verified in person), and the Acer supposedly cannot (haven't used, trusting those who did) either. So if you get a game that doesn't support Ultrawide and you need to run 16:9 with letterboxing, you can't run 2560x1440 on the Acer/LG, only the Samsung. On the Acer/LG, you're limited to 1920x1080.

I am mainly looking to use this with thunderbolt. Is there any boot up time when I connect my computer to it? I heard the older lg monitors with thunderbolt ports had a 30sec boot time before it would start.
How is this one different than the 34UM88C?
Acurapassion
This one has 2 thunder bolt inputs.. btw the thunder bolt option on amazon is $799
If this is the same price, why not go for the 34UC88-B thats still up for 2 days?

Philly
Thunderbolts and 3 year warranty that covers the backlight. This is a commercial grade panel vs consumer grade.
B.Hutch
Ahh. Thanks for clarifying
Is there any downsides to this over the 34UC88-B in the other drop that I'm missing? Seems it may end up being cheaper if fully unlocked, has TB, and a longer warranty?
sjbuggs
You are correct. Better panel here, commercial grade, better warranty, thunderbolts. However it's a straight panel, not curved. Just depends on your preference.
Can anyone tell me if this is like some other LG panels that can do 75 Hz on freesync? Also i see no range for the freesync spec. I would think it is 45-75 Hz but I am hopefully that the range could be better with this being a newer model.

So you're saying that I can run games at 75 fps with this monitor w/ freesync enabled?
Dzong
Yes, with an AMD card that supports Freesync connected to this monitor with a displayport cable you will be able to have a 75Hz refresh rate instead of the 60Hz with Freesync disabled. It will still matter on your card and game setting if you will reach 75Hz but i digress...
I couldn't find this product on lg site
Kesuki
Kesuki, This is a brand new product from LG. LG generally partners with Massdrop to list their products here first, often before they are available on LG.com. Cheers.
does massdrop ever have g-sync monitors?? Most people have Nvidia cards, no?

"... Freesync is not a proprietary AMD technology. Nvidia could support it just fine if they wanted to, but then they couldn't force consumers to shell out 100-200$ extra for a monitor now could they? "
Enigma0
I never said that FreeSync was a proprietary AMD technology. NVidia does not support it anyhow because of the reasons you stated above.

RANT: This is getting absurd. I am severely turned off by this sexy monitor because of that screenshot. I get it, that's not what it'll actually look like. But that screenshot is the equivalent of advertising a McLaren P1 with a matte camo paint job. I mean, come the f*** on! Any one actually buying this must care about visuals. The retailer's choice to completely ignore portraying the item's primary function is disappointing. I want to see what I'm paying for and I'm certainly not getting that with the way this monitor is shown. I wouldn't be so upset if this was the first time I had seen this but this seems to be common practice, at least from my shopping experience. Are game developers (games being really the only media, that I know of, that uses Freesync/G-sync) really not willing to supply a screenshot of their game? Perhaps a screenshot would even follow under Fair Use (though, maybe not, I don't know). Any way, get your sh*t together gaming monitor industry!

I'm still torn between something like this and a few 144hz monitors like the Nixeus. Would I game more with better monitors? Or will my gaming habits be the same as now--which is barely. Now viewing content and media is always happening and that's better on a monitor like this.
This looks really sweet. I would love to get this. Lowest price is $835 on Amazon right now so this is a great deal. Just can't afford it for a few months. Booooo.
TragestyX
Pretty sure that one is Curved, and this one is not.
Bandar_Alshareef
You're right. This same one on Amazon is 753 currently with free shipping. Making it only a $50 difference really. Would rather pay $50 more for the speed of Amazon and the return/exchange/defective policies. Also better for my credit card company.
Is this curved version or no curved version?
Alanbition
This is the flat version. UM = flat, UC = curved
