I will reiterate my previous comment because this is redropping. I bought his monitor because I thought it was a good deal. I am a professional photographer and on paper, this is an incredible monitor for me.
Please be aware that nearly all units suffer from significant lightbleed issues in all four corners. I have gone through 3 units, and its all the same. Dark scenes in photos, video games, and movies are all made incredibly distracting by this. Absolutely inexcusable for a monitor of this price, particularly one targeted to power users and professionals. Please see attached image regarding what you are getting yourself into.

cbtlrI also own this monitor and can confirm roughly the same back light bleed.
However If you did your research essentially all comparable models have this issue. Every review fro a 34" curved IPS display is plastered with the same comment as yours. While it is good to continue to share this information so buyers are aware, just don't say its "absolutely inexcusable". There are higher end "professional" monitors out there that do not have these issues, but come at another price premium.
The BLB is a know issue, and I bought knowingly. I still recommend this monitor as it is one of the best ones i've ever owned for image quality.

ukfan3108Both Massdrop and LG market this as a commercial grade monitor. It says it right in the description. I believe it's not unfair to assume that it would be free of glaring issues. Adding insult to injury, I purchased this from Amazon prior to many reviews being available.
Ultimately, I agree, it's my bad in the end. After the third monitor I should have moved on and I didn't. Maybe it was the exhaustion from having to pack this behemoth up and bringing it back to UPS that I just gave up and submitted.

cbtlrI agree that is should be noted in the project description, but that isn't really Massdrop's fault as they are provided the marketing information from LG. LG/Dell/Acer/ ASUS (talking about curved ultrawide ips displays in general) should have figured out a solution before sending them to market or have better QC so customers don't have to pay to shipping to RMA the monitor. But they obviously took the its easier to get your money now apologize later.
My biggest grip with the posting is there are 3 different monitors pictured in the product Photos. That is misleading to the customer and easily correctable, and SHOULD be considered false advertising. But massdrop hasn't responded to my comment about it. @elimelendez

cbtlrThanks for sharing. I'll likely wait for the next iteration of this monitor. Hopefully Massdrop lines that up.

ukfan3108I have also seen a few reviews or comments from other owners that have had multiple screens like these, that have said unboxing may be causing excess BLB. Apparently picking the screen up from the side can make it worse. When this screen finally arrives, I plan to be extremely careful with handeling the monitor to minimize the chance of excesssive BLB. We'll see if that ends up true or not.

RandyHI was very delicate when unboxing mine and the quick start guide has specific instructions on how to do unbox and setup properly. I don't think my handling had any effect on the BLB, but there is not way of knowing. Also, I have moved since purchasing this monitor, packing it back into its original box, moving it, and unpacking it in the same manner. The moving process didn't increase the amount of BLB. I also use mine with a Ergotech Freedom Arm and grab both sides to adjust the monitor's position quite frequently, though this doesn't require much force since the freedom arms are counterbalanced. I haven't noticed a change in the BLB since day 1.
I'm not saying this to give you a green light to be reckless with it, but I don't think you have to be as cautious as your were led onto believe.
Probably Irrelevant: I did RMA my Asus MG279Q monitor and it was returned to me this week. They either replaced the internal panel during the RMA (very probable) or the amount of BLB has increased due to shipping.
