I certainly appreciate your opinion, StoleMyOwnCar. Now that I've read it, I can go back to reading the dozens if not hundreds of opinions from people who actually own the 34UM95 and are absolutely in awe of it. I can assure you that many, many people are buying this monitor to game on and when a game works at this resolution (and most do), it's a game changer. It's an awesome way to have that extra field of view without dealing with the bothersome bezels and pains that come with a triple screen setup. And for the record, I own a 120hz panel and was worried about going back to 60hz, but this thing is so gorgeous when running games in the pics I've seen that I don't think it'll be a problem.
Way to unfairly slam an innovative display just because it doesn't meet your needs. There are monitors out there for everyone. I'm sure your Qnix is great but I plan to ride this baby into the sunset until 4K panels get better and more properly supported. And as long as I keep my S27A950D, I'll have 120hz (albeit in a smaller, less exquisite looking panel) for when I feel the "need for speed."

LateralusYea, I stopped reading his response on the first sentence. Crysis 3 at high settings getting 62fps is exactly my point. You'll need another 780ti to even start to see the advantage of 144hz. It's just too high a rez to push near 144fps. Requires $2100-3000 in vid cards. And you're still stuck on a 16:9 screen.
The rest of his post was filled with nonsense bias and ignorance about something he doesn't know. I've owned 120hz, played on it, played triple screen, the immersion of triple screen or this 21:9 far outweights some smoothness with just shooters. Shooters aren't the only games.
144hz Rog is inferior rez, inferior picture, 16:9. No comparison to this screen. But I'm not going to turn this into flaming wars. I will not respond anymore to him.

LateralusI was taking a walk so I couldn't make a longer response. I know how gorgeous you think this thing is. I know because that's how I felt when I bought an 800$ 1440p IPS as an upgrade from even a VA panel at 1920x1200. That kind of upgrade is huge. Especially if it's TN (especially with a crappy 6 bit panel that uses FRC). As for this? It's an incremental (~17% on each side) upgrade from 1440p... at roughly twice the price. Actually more than twice the price... that also happens to have the disadvantage of running a 21/9 aspect ratio (that probably no older game will expect or support; few enough support 19:10, or 1440p) and unlike a multi monitor setup is not curved. That is, all of the data is directly in front of you. Flat. In an FPS that's not how your vision should work.
Moving on, my post was addressing his bashing of the ASUS ROG monitor in comparison to this one AS A GAMING SOLUTION. I can in no way see a 21:9 60fps IPS monitor with no G Sync or anything that costs more and is actually harder to drive as a superior solution to a G-Sync monitor with tons of bells and whistles for gaming.
And nothing about this is innovative at all. This is just a natural step up from older 21:9. ie this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005396 There aren't any innovations present here, it's just a larger panel.
Maybe if they curved the display to more naturally match FOV.
But then again this is just my opinion. If you feel 3x% more pixels at twice the price of normal 1440p monitors, with no gaming features, is worth it for gaming, then by all means. Go for it.

SupermoistBecause you don't have anything. You can't give me a good response. Let's just ignore G Sync and all that, and ignore the features of the ASUS. You can't even do basic math. 780Ti's do not cost $1050+ dollars each. Moreover again it's a full 8 bit panel. TN or not, it's not gonna be that much different from that IPS. Your monitor sucks for gaming compared to the ASUS. Get over it.

kevinriversThis has nothing to do with me buying it. That's quite out of the question. I wasn't even going to get involved in this drop at all, or say anything really. I drew the line when this fool with an excess of buyer justification that can't do basic math was running around vehemently telling people that this is such a superior gaming monitor because its 30 something % extra screen estate and IPS panel (which isn't even that big of a step up from a full 8 bit high quality TN, viewing angles aside) it was a huge step up FOR GAMING from a premium gaming monitor with: G-Sync ULMB up to 144Hz refresh rate fast response time full 8 bit panel etc. AT A LOWER PRICE TAG...
Because it's going to be so much harder to drive than a monitor that by default requires well over 1.3x the power to drive at the same graphics settings and features no G-Sync or antiblur to compensate. Yeah, because not being able to drive it at max capacity totally makes a 60FPS locked wide monitor a superior option. Probably doesn't even realize you need SLI just to drive this thing at 60FPS on many games. I know because I'm running 780 SLI and just to drive my Qnix at 60FPS with every setting out is impossible. You'll need to lower settings either way. And you're at a >30% handicap running this resolution, which some games don't even support. So it's fine if you just really want that 34% extra screen estate that bad. That's great. Just don't spout crap.
I don't like seeing some people like this running around misinforming consumers. That's why I'm rather vehement about this.
Think I've vented enough, it's just annoying the guy doesn't even try to defend himself after spouting crap.

SupermoistYour post was extremely informative. I was considering monitors like the ASUS Swift, but your post cleared it up. Definitely considering this LG now. Or the AOC.

SupermoistExactly, you need NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti SLI and that only gets you to 100.6FPS, not even hitting 144Hz. The whole point of syncing the FPS to the Hz rating of a monitor is to prevent tearing on screen. And LCDs are different than CRTs, yes 60Hz CRTs can give people headaches but LCDs work differently than CRTs. LCDs don't pulse on and off at 60Hz, they stay on all the time. So it's almost impossible that 60Hz LCDs give people headaches.

GasarakiHey mate, let's do basic math time. Some of this might be slightly off, but should be very much in the ballpark. Okay, so let's say that SLI scaling is 90%. 100.6FPS/1.9=52.94FPS. That's the FPS on a single 780Ti. That's on a 1440p display. So let's say you're using this display. What is 52.94/1.34? 39.51. That's right, on this display your FPS will be 39.51 with a single card. That means the bare minimum you'll need to even drive it to around 75FPS will be two 780Ti cards. That is, you'll need a 780 SLI to even get 60FPS. 75/1.2=62.5 (a 780 is about 20% weaker than a 780Ti). That's barring more demanding games which will likely need 780 Ti SLI to even get to 60FPS on this display. Horsepower is a moot point because you're going to need the best cards out there either way. And you'll need two.
As for G-Sync, it has more uses than that. Not to mention you're ignoring the input lag from the scalar this thing likely has built in (and OSD) and the horribly slow pixel response times.
