I was able to test a different monitor (Dell P-Series) using my existing cabling and the Dell did not have any sleep issues. This confirms a problem with the LG or the drivers for the LG. I plan on contacting LG support about this issue and recommend others do the same.

MurdocDang. That sucks for us. Still stuck with the issue for me, too. What contact info will you use to contact LG?
