LG uses IPS for their panels which is a pretty bad choice. Go for a TCL, Vizio p series Sony or Samsung instead. Especially if you're watching in a dark room because of the LG's terrible local dimming. https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/sj8500 https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/vizio/p-series-xled-2017 https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/tcl/p-series-2017-p607 https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x900e
The TCL is $50 more expensive and has a better smart tv interface and better picture quality. And can be there in 2 days https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06Y6FSV5Q?tag=rtings-tv-bs10b-20&ie=UTF8

ColbraThe IPS provides better viewing angles at high color volume though, unless you’re an enthusiast this TV deal is a steal

FroziaIPS is only good if you're viewing at off angles or in a very sunlit room. VA is the way to go for TV's as opposed to monitors. Especially if you're looking at watching movies (ahem your enthusiast comment) since VA's have much deeper blacks more suited to viewing movies especially since the LG doesn't have good local dimming compared to the VA panels by TCL, and Sony. There's a very small subset of people that an IPS panel is good for and that's if you're viewing from extreme angles or if you're in a room with a lot of sunlight infiltration so pretty much the opposite of what anyone who can call themselves an enthusiast would set up.

ColbraConvince me/school me on these TCL panels, never heard of them, i've always been a sony guy myself except back in the plasma days i was into the panny's.. like most people in places like this i'm really value x performance minded type of person, which is funny to say right after saying i'm a sony guy, lol, but that's just my preference, if there's something great out there for the money i'd be silly not to consider it, i mean like i said, i still think the old panny plasmas were generally better than the sony's, for the money certainly....
so again, what's the deal with TCL? like who do they get their panels and hardware from? are they known to be good for anything in particular? blacks? color? ect.
you'd be doing me a solid by introducing me to a company i've never heard of before if they are any good..... my panny plasma is still kicking run in top shape down in my game room.

TheIzzardKingHere is an objective comparison from rtings. https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/sony-x900e-vs-tcl-p607/418/450
It's pretty well laid out in the wirecutter review. But the Sony is 100% the better TV but it's probably not worth the price difference for most people. It's pretty much 90% of the way to the sony with a much lower price. And with an included roku you don't have to worry as much about the smart TV capabilities.

ColbraThe next generation TCL P series (rebranded 6 series) is due May 1. It looks to bring many improvements to aesthetics and to performance. I like your line of thinking, but if you can hold off a couple weeks you can either probably snag a last gen for real cheap or get the new one around the same price as the current model.
