Is this the 2015 or 2017 model? Amazon shows two versions.

How is this a "700 watt" system, when the total power consumption is only 85 Watts?

BradumPower consumption and Power Output is 2 different things. That being said, the term "power output" is very subjective and is dependent on many factors and parameters. More important are distortion, frequency range , frequency response, power duration, SPL amoung other factors. Many maufacturers either don't list this infprmation or make is difficult to find it. Your best bet is to just listen to it in your local big box and or read many reviews [2,3,4 star]

A general question about soundbar speakers. Do they contain an amp?
The TV's volume is fine by itself, until you stream certain content. The volume is fine in most streamed shows. But occasionally, some movies/TV shows can barely be heard from across the room even at 100%. Would a soundbar at least improve the volume for content that is streamed with a low volume? Thanks!

glennacOf course they contain at least an amp. The sound from almost any sound bar will be better than any TV. Question is: how much better? *Make sure there is a sub included.

I have bought and returned this system from best buy. Buyer beware. This Flagship LG LAS950M aka HS9 from LG does not support HDMI 2.0 or above standards and therefore will not passthrough 4K HDR content to your 4K HDR TV.
But if you dont plan on buying a 4k HDR TV in the future and all you need is 4K without HDR then by all means please buy this. The audio quality is incredible and i have owned Marten Logan, Bowers Wilkens and Definitive Tech before and this is almost as good as those brands in sound quality. The bass is above average but its probably its weakest attribute.

I know you will. Just connect your 4K HDR Bluray player directly to your LG B7 and have an hdmi ARC connected to your soundbar to enable all possible audio codecs to your soundbar. This way you will have 4K HDR video content whether its natively on the LG TV webOS or directly from an HDR Bluray. DO NOT passthrough your hdmi from bluray through your sound bar.
Enjoy!
Tip... You can enable both the TV built in speakers and use the sound bar OPTICAL audio at the same time giving in essence 2 extra speakers coming off the TV. Great for parties and music. There is a setting under audio of the LG TVs menu to set this.

AL13N1NV8D3R Unlike a lot of other people I enjoy the Dolby Atmos feature, so I have to run my LG sound bar using ARC. Issue with that is it takes up an HDMI port on my LG B7 which already is limited to a few. I wish they would take back some of those USB ports and add HDMI‘s

Any solid reviews on this system? I can't find a whole lot on it. Also is this the 2015 model?
