I own both the 55" & 65" versions and they are spectacular displays. I did not purchase them through MD but I have purchased other items from MD and have had a great experience. The only issue I've experienced with these displays is the inability to pass Dolby Atmos through ARC. I'm not a tv-technician so I can't provide much in the way of technical details as to why it doesn't work but I've read that the issue will be resolved in eARC (ehanced ARC). I don't know yet if eARC is simply a firmware upgrade or if it requires new hardware. So, unless your sound system, or soundbar, can passthru Dolby Vision you will probably not be able to get both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision at the same time. I guess the other alternative would be that your video source could split the audio from the video and pass the audio to your soundbar via HDMI and the video to the tv via HDMI. Dolby Atmos requires HDMI (no other method is currently supported). I'm just offering this as my experience and I am not an expert.

KC-130My 65E7p passes through Dolby Atmos just perfect to my SJ9 soundbar via Arc. TV displays Dolby Vision and soundbar displays Dolby Atmos. Sounds perfect also. I am Atmos from Netflix and Vudu as well as Xbox One X movies sound great passing from tv through Arc to soundbar. The TV itself sounds pretty good also as it decodes and plays Dolby Vision and Atmos on it's own soundbar. I purchased SJ9 for extra oomf.

Zooie123Thanks for the extra info. It's unfortunate but it seems LG has hobbled ARC on these OLED TV's to only pass Atmos to LG soundbars (e.g, your SJ9). ARC is an open specification but LG must have applied restrictions in their implementation. I've tested these OLED displays extensively with the Sony Atmos HT-ST5000 in a Magnolia store to no avail. I own the Samsung K850 & K950 and the Atmos ARC does not work with either of those. A friend tested Atmos/ARC with his Vizio 5.1.4 soundbar using the 65OLEDC7P and Atmos over ARC didn't work for him. If LG has applied restrictions to only pass Atmos over ARC for their brand of TV/Soundbar then I expect Sony & Samsung will follow suit.

KC-130That is sad if LG did that. The SJ9 is awesome and recommended. The Atmos is fantastic and overhead sounds really do work as well as all around. I know it is virtual but darn it sounds pretty immersive. I know it does not take place of a true Atmos speaker setup but I love it. I got a great deal on the SJ9 at Greentoe for $449 and with the E7P, a great deal.

KC-130I thought you cannot do Atmos over ARC because of bandwidth limits in HDMI 2.0, with it not going to be available until HDMI 2.1 spec eARC devices are released.

BuffArmsIt absolutely can do Atmos, it works beautifully. There is a technical difference between lossy and lossless Atmos which is beyond me but please Google it and AVS forums have great explanations of it. I believe I am listening to lossy Atmos and to get lossless Atmos you need eArc as you said.

Zooie123Interesting. So its sending object data alongside the DD Plus stream. So you will lose some of the audio quality with the compression, but you still get the superior object based positional audio.
