Would this tube amp be worth using with Sennheiser HD598 or HD6XX headphones?
I am currently using an Audioengine D1 all-in-one Amp/DAC. Would this be an upgrade? I am new to the audiophile community and still have a lot to learn! Would it be recommended to connect this tube amp to my DAC via RCA cable and would this set up be better than the Audioengine D1 by itself?

AuffreyvI'm doing that with my dragonfly black. Add a jitterbug and it's great

KbaumGreat! Thanks! I'm still waiting for the HD6XX to arrive (should ship by Christmas... can't wait!), but the HD598s I've been using sound good. I replaced the Little Dot's op-amp with the Burson SS V5i and the stock tubes with Voskhod tubes. So far, I'm impressed with the sound quality that comes out of this amp. The Jitterbug looks interesting... does it make that much of a difference?

AuffreyvI'm also using the Voshkod tubes and was thinking of adding the V5i. Is changing the amp as simple as pulling the old one and gently pushing in the new one? Is it worth the switch? The jitterbug added bass on my phone with the dragonfly. Seems like I have a blacker background with it. Not a lot of money. I enjoy the music more with it than without it.

KbaumOh I changed the 6xx cables to bestintheverse. I needed a longer cable and they seemed to be reasonable. The cleaned the the sound and opened the treble a little.

KbaumYep! Just make sure the unit is unplugged and everything. The op-amp is quite easy to replace. I used a flat screwdriver to pull it out, but there are tools made for that specific purpose. Be careful to pull it out evenly as to avoid bending the legs of the op-amp (that is, if you intend on reusing it). Make sure that the directional marker on the Burson V5i is aligned with the socket. The new op-amp should snap in without much trouble. When you push it in, you should hear a click.
As for sound quality, it left me with a very good impression. Instruments sound rich and full-bodied. I find that voice and piano benefit from it the most. Acoustic and classical guitars also sound more present. Although I haven't compared the two op-amps actively, I am convinced that reverting to the original op-amp would make me appreciate the Burson even more.
It's definitely worth the investment: you do get a lifetime warranty on the op-amp, so you can always recycle it when you upgrade your gear.
And thanks for the tip! I'll keep an eye on the Jitterbug and the replacement cable for the HD6XX.

AuffreyvIs the directional marker apparent. I found this picture on the Burson site. You may want to find a vendor that will let you return the jitterbug should you not like it. As for the cable its the length I want, the colours I like, and IMHO sounds a bit better.

KbaumThe marker is quite simply the white circle you see on the lower left corner of the op-amp. The socket has a similar symbol: all you have to do is make sure that they align on the same side. If you have doubts, you can always refer to the stock op-amp, which has the same symbol and was installed in the right direction.
If you purchase your V5i from Burson Audio, keep in mind that you need one (1) dual SS V5i. The people from Burson Audio are really nice. I think it is actually cheaper to order it directly from their website.
Thanks for the info. I just ordered the Jitterbug from Amazon. I will try it out!

AuffreyvAh. I see the dot. I'll have to order it from Australia. I'll get back to you once I've had a chance to listen to it.
