Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

It's great! The pictures don't do it justice - the amp is all aluminum and well constructed. The pot has a nicely weighted feeling to it as well, not cheap like you might expect from a chinese producer. While the listing says it's for low impedance headphones, you can switch a jumper inside to help it power more high impedance headphones. For example, I use Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250 Ohm headphones with it and it has no problems powering them. You'll have the dial turned up 1/3 and it'll already be getting uncomfortably loud, and a tube sound really compliments these sometimes harsh headphones. I've also used it as a preamp without issue. My only gripe would be the factory Chinese tubes, which are highly micro-phonic and tend to randomly hiss and twinkle. But you don't buy this for the tubes it comes with, you buy it to roll in your own tubes! I've put in a pair of Voshkods and am very happy with the sound. You can also roll the opamp chip inside as well, so you can further adjust the sound to your liking.
Overall, if you're looking to get into tube amplifying market, and want it to be well built with lots of options to easily mod and customize to your liking, this amp is what you're looking for! Some of the guys at Head-Fi have said this unit doesn't sound the greatest and is not powerful enough for higher impedance headphones, but I disagree wholeheartedly and am extremely happy with this amp.
