Alright, so I just got my gall bladder taken out yesterday and my wife said to treat myself. (Bear with me, I am pretty doped up atm as I feel like I just got shanked) I have a pair of E-MU teak's (Ebony wood) coming in from the recent drop as my first pair of audiophile headphones. So I've been looking for a good pairing for them while I wait. I have a Fiio E17k DAC/AMP and was wondering if the Fiio's DAC would be a good pairing with the Little Dot I+ for right now while I save up for something better in the future? If so, how would I go about setting it up? I'm new to this world but from what little I understand so far would it be something like this?... Computer > Fiio (for DAC) > Little Dot I+ > E-MU's? How would I go about connecting those and what would I need?

NanashiWandererYou are right in your order. The dac converts the digital to analog so that the amp can, well, amplify it. The e17k has a great dac; but it' amp leaves some to be desired. This should be a good option for you, just make sure you turn the amp part off of the e17k or it will just sound weird. Almost Any dac above 300 really drops in performance. The dac is important, but the amp is more important. If you're willing to save up for a better dac, a great option (albeit expensive) is the schiit/magni combo. however; this little amp with an e17k is also a great option, just a lower price range.

NanashiWandererbe sure that you e17 has a preamp output. i had the original e17 and i dont think that there was a standalone preamp out, with the e17+e09k combo i know there was a pre out....
i could be wrong but you may want to investigate further b4 investing
