Mine has the SE sticker on the back of the unit but does not have the SE part on the front. Wondering if anyone got one with SE on the front? Ah snap, the Volume label is botched too.... what to do?

PathworksDid it come with the upgraded M8100/CV4010 driver tubes and 6H30PI power tubes? Perhaps one of us might want to pop one open and check on the internal upgraded components? Mine is arriving sometime tomorrow hopefully...

PathworksSomething is not right. I looked online and all SE models have SE stamped on the front of the unit. Hopefully they didn't just upgrade the MKIV tubes and sell them as SE. Mine won't be here until Tuesday so hopefully we'll get more people receiving theirs and reporting what they received. If they are in fact just IV and not the SE version I'll be requesting a full refund.

PathworksReceived mine yesterday and it is marked SE on the front. I would contact MD directly. Keep us posted, if you don't mind, on the outcome. I switched my unit to high gain (both switches off) to drive the DT 880 600 Ohm 'phones. Around 10 hours of burn-in at this point so don't have too much to report. Edit: was happy until the next day.

PathworksGrrrrr...... I made the change to gain of 5 and now the left channel stopped working. I tried reseating the tubes and even swapped sides with them and still no luck. Made sure dip switches locked in too. This is getting frustrating.

eschellCan anybody tell me what components have been upgraded & how to identify them? From what I have seen on this amp, I don't even trust that it has the upgraded components. Apart from the locking Neutrick headphone connector (which is a pain in the a** to deal with) & the nice RCA jacks I can't tell. Haven't pulled the tubes to check them.

bugeyedVerified that the tubes, on mine at least, are correct. The RCA connectors also look correct. The tube socket seems loose as the slightest jiggle wreaks havoc. I had to push the left tube towards the back of the amp in order to get the channel to work properly. I have gone from happy to disappointment in the span of a day. Off to browse the forums in the hopes of figuring out this amp.

DarrinWLooking at the way this amp's pcb is installed, there is no support behind the tube sockets, so if the board has any flex in it, it will be flexing when you press down on the tubes. Not the best design. Maybe that's why they have the board bent up at the ends to apply more pressure on the tube sockets. Not the right way to do it, sorry to say. Also check with a flash light through the holes in the bottom & see if the solder flux has been cleaned off your board. If not, it can be a problem as I have described previously.

Pathworksthanks for the tip but I have already tried that. I do think it is the tube socket that is the culprit. I submitted a support ticket to MD and hoping for the best. Thanks again

DarrinWThis is from the user's guide and I thought it was something you may not have tried. "General: For general strange behavior (noise, non-functioning channels, etc) please check and re-seat the fuse. The fact that the amplifier powers on does not necessarily mean the fuse is making optimal contact. When new, the gain switches can be tight. Move each switch back and forth several times and then securely set them into position. Swapping the power cord is also a recommended troubleshooting step."

PathworksWell saw the bit about swapping the input & output causing the problem that I have. Volume control does not attenuate the signal. That was indeed the issue, so the input/output jacks are either mislabeled or connected backwards. Mine has the RCAs nearest the edge marked as input. I still have an issue with the bent pcb & solder flux on the board. Either of these will likely cause the unit to fail in the future.

Ringing in PC38X's

I recently got this headset, and wow is it good. My only issue is when certain people talk on discord, I can hear a really high pitched ringing. I fiddled with a bunch of settings, computer audio and discord, and nothing seems to solve the issue. It is primarily if not all in my right ear only. Is there something wrong with my headset, or was that ringing always there I can just hear it cause the headset is THAT good? I haven't had any issues with any other application, though I have yet to test if I can hear the ringing on a different version of discord, say on my xbox instead of my pc. Only other issue I've had is occasional static, but I can't tell if it's from the headset or the show/game/etc.

Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?

Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Recommendation for my next headphone set? I have Koss 95x

Hey all, What would you recommend I get next and why? I have Koss ESP-95x electrostatic massdrop headphones. These are my first and only audiophile set. I love them. I think my only real requirements is $500 or less for the headphones and that they have a little more low end. I don’t need thump but these are really light on lows…but the experience is still awesome. Also any recommendations on an amp? I only have my electrostatic thingy. I am using the Topping D50 DAC. thx!!

Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?

I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better. I also find that my PC38X don't get quite as loud as I would like and I was wondering if a cheap amp like the iFi Go link would draw a little more volume out of my phones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BN6MM822?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I went with the PC38X since it was considered the best bang for buck headphones.
