High impedance headphones WILL NOT BE DRIVEN BY THESE. So, if you are trying to you one those kind of headphones then Darkvoice 336 is the way to go.

tbhariOpen it up and adjust the switches inside for High Impedance Headphones and you will hear a much better sound.

MusicLoverThank You MusicLover for your information. I have 150+ headphones with me. I have about 10 different amplifier and DACs so I do not find breaking open a headphone to manipulate the circuitry is needed for me given what I have... Thank you for your wealth of information on this matter ... God Bless You.

tbhariNo worries.

tbhariUhm, I would disagree. Tube amps are mostly intended to be used with somewhat "higher" impedance loads. LOW-impedance headphones are the real issue with tube amps.
Are you sure you have adjusted the gain and volume properly?

tbhariThere is no gain on this Amp. Volume to max failed to drive my HiFiman HP

tbhariYou should read the manual. The settings for gain is inside the amp.

tbhariOk even if I read the manual and can make adjustments to gain then I would not risk to open up the amp to make changes. In that cae it should have been user friendly to have a gain knob or switch built to the outside of the amp not buried inside the amp.

tbhariOr even better, the amp should have came with gain set up high enough to drive high impedance HP... instead of it being opened by users ....

tbhariI think you are not really clear what the concept of Little Dot Amps is. They are intended to be highest quality possible with affordable price and built with "good enough parts" to sound good as themselves. They are actually meant to be modified by the user for their own liking. That is why the amp is easily modifiable and can be easily opened to change almost everything on the circuit board, like capacitors to higher quality etc, and of course the tubes themselves. This is why the gain switches are located inside the box. Also you shouldn't be too afraid of opening few screws to adjust the gain for your own good.
At least this was the case with Mk i and ii. The mk iii seems like more plug and play product but mk iii costs 2x more than mk ii. If you do not like customizing your own amp, pay little more to get everything done for you in the first place.

tbhariTo add, the amp has gain switches included to be able to drive wide variety of different headphones from low-impedance to high impedance ones. So please pay some effort yourself, read the manual and use the amp as it is meant to be used. If you still feel disappointed please feel free to tell us what makes you feel that way. I would also be interested if setting up the right gain helped to fix your issue.

tbhariI can afford expensive amp. The reason why I preferred mkii over mkiii is because the way mkii looks ... the way it should look for a classic tube amp. I OWN SEVERAL AMPS & DACs and I never had one where I need to open the case to adjust settings. Will be careful in the future before making purchase of this kind. Also, have dark voice 336 SE tube amp which worked out of the box without any adjustments needed and mainly brought mkii because wanted a hybrid amp...

tbhariHaha yeah. But hey you got that old style look you were looking for, right? Only it also works the old way too... However it may be better sounding like that. From electrical point of view, adding some kind of panel or potentiometer for gain makes the circuit more complicated so it may directly affect sound too. Using jumpers and switches this unnecessary "loop" can be avoided competely

siikanenNot necessarily ... things may look classic and satisfy nostalgic desires but also come with some user friendly features without breaking both customers and manufacturers bank. i don't think adding an gain nob or a switch is going to be : 1. Expensive 2. Difficult 3. Impractical

tbhariBut why? If the idea is to build cheap high quality user configurable tube amp with as less distortion as possible, why ruin it with some "ease of use" knobs when they are able to use simpler (and better) parts?

tbhariI have opened the cover of EVERY single amp I own. I want to SEE THOSE GUTS!!! How can you be affluent enough to afford all that gear but not adventurous enough to want to see the insides of your gear?
