I see that the following upgrades are available if you order a Mk8 SE unit directly from Little Dot:
Driver Tubes: JAN5965 (+160)
Mundorf Cap: (+177)
Teflon silver plated wire and
Silver solder (+299)
Ho, Ho, Hoo....Massdrop....any chance of making these upgrades available here on Massdrop as well....would make Great Sense, I believe...

alexiuslWhy would one want 'silver solder' for 300 bucks, what do you expect it to add to the amp's goodness? I do not know what "regular" solder Little Dot uses, but as far as solder type is concerned the only real benefit comes from using eutectic solder, as it reduces the chances of bad connections. $300 extra for 'silver solder' is audiofoolery at its fooliest, IMHO :)

qqqq1🤔 You're most likely absolutely correct! "audiofoolery" is a common disease, and there are lots of companies offering several obscure upgrades just for the sake of it... I, myself, most likely would not be able to hear any, at least no significant, difference between the standard soldering and the the silver one... It's just that if there's any possible upgrade available, I just like to be able opt for it...even if I as well eventually come to the same conclusion as you did.. 😉

alexiuslI myself am subject to that very costly disease :) It's just that in this particular case, upgrading to "silver solder" (and the cost of that upgrade!) seemed especially ridiculous compared to some probably very real and nice upgrades (such as better tubes).
(The amp itself actually looks very nice, I would be tempted if I hadn't spent way too much already this month on audio stuff...)

qqqq1Yeah...way too much is being spent on audio and home video equipment every month...I got one of the last Oppo UDP-205's last month, and subsequently just figured I'd better buy my daughter a UDP-203 of her own so she as well can watch allt the new 4k disks I "had" to get...which meant i eventually "had" to buy her a new 4k TV as well.. And as if that wasn't enough I "just felt" like l "I had to" try a NuPrime CDT 8 transport with an I2S output to hook up to the PS Audio DAC...just to compare something at that price to PS Audios own transport which I already have....YES...It is indeed a disease... 😉

alexiuslJust do the upgrades yourself. You can save hundreds of dollars and get all of the "benefits".
