Question to any audio engineer or audiophile... I have an old z2300 that makes haedphones sound better than anything I have tried, does a dac amp will sound better? because if they are not portable I dont see the point of having good sound card in pc plus the z2300 amp. Thanks in advance cheers!

geebAssuming you're talking about the Logitec Z2300 2.1 speaker system. My question is what headphones and what else (DAC's and Amps) have you tried? I had the Z2300's and was never impressed with the headphone section, and it would never hold a candle to the gear I'm running now.

geebI'll try to address this as some short points.
Absolutely no disrespect, but with the headphone you mention I would stick to the gear you have. If you wanted to sneak your way into this hobby I might suggest a headphone like a Koss PortaPro X (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-koss-porta-pro-x-headphones#description), or some Phillips SHP9500 (or SHP9500s which is the same).
When I had my Z2300's the laptop I was running them off of was introducing a lot of electronic noise into the audio stream. So when I picked up a little external DAC/headphone amp (a NuForce uDAC3) and connected the Z2300 to it I was shocked at how much better the speakers sounded. That was an older laptop and I don't have the noise problems with my newer laptops, but the internal DACs still can't beat the performance of my external units.
Never used expensive PC sound cards, but if you think the sound is clean then that may be all you need if you're sticking with basic low impedence (low ohm) headphones.
With the right gear, one may be able to tell the difference between a good FLAC file and a 320kbps MP3, but I can tell you that most of what I listen to is 320 mp3's (Google Play Music). I was using Tidal HiFi, but the service is terrible.
I have to get to work, but chew on this and let me now if you have any additional questions.

geebThe HD6XX is a fantastic headphone and an incredible value. It's also a headphone that will grow with you, meaning as your gear gets better, the headphone will get better. I started with the HD650 (same sound as HD6XX) years ago using an all-in-one DAC/Amp combo (a NuForce Icon DAC) which sounded quite good, I then went with a tube amp (Little Dot MK II) and they sounded even better. I tried a Schiit Asgard 2, and a Schiit Valhalla 2, both of which paired nicely with the HD650's. Then I picked up a Schiit Jotunheim and I just added the Multibit DAC Module to the Jot. Running the HD650's off the balanced end of the Jot was another noticeable notch higher in sound quality. Then about a month ago I found a like-new Woo Audio WA3 and I found another level of sound quality for the HD650's (and the HD6XX). Both the Little Dot and the Woo are OTL type tube amps, and the HD600, HD650, HD660S, and HD6XX love OTL tube amps. If your happy with your sound card you could eventually add an amp to up the sound quality of your HD6XX's. I never cared for the Schiit Magni 1 or Magni 2 with the HD6XX, but the $100 Magni 3 is a great pairing with the HD6XX.
