I have owned this DAC since September 2017, and it has served me well. It's a great-sounding and multi-featured DAC that punches high above its price range. It is equally adept with DSD and PCM. It has an accurate and neutral sound without any smoothing over of the upper regions (but not bright), and is best paired with neutral-to-warm-sounding gear. I used it with an iFi iCan Pro headphone amplifier and Sennheiser 650/Beyerdynamic Amiron Home headphones to great effect.
There were some mechanical issues (heat) with this DAC early on in its production, but those have all been addressed since then. The only drawback to buying a Chinese-designed-and-manufactured DAC like this one is that the documentation isn't great and you don't get top-notch support from the builder (Kerwin) or seller (Jimbo) after your purchase (they're not great at responding to emails). However, you can find out pretty much anything you need to know from the HeadFi forums, as there are many owners of this DAC active there -- so if you do have questions, there is a community available to help you out.
If you have general questions about this DAC, check out the Q&A/comments section on Shenzen Audio's (the seller's) website. Many common questions have been answered there.

dcguy73I'm trying to determine the return on investment in this price range. Have you compared the LKS to cheaper dual DACs? I'm using a $350 FiiO Q5 quite a lot:

It has dual AK4490EN DAC chips, and notably better performance than my single chip DACs. This is going out through the 2.5mm balanced output and Focal Elex.

G3n3r1cI'm in the same boat. My new Gustard with dual 9028 sounds amazing to my ears. It's noticeably better than my Schiit Gungnir Multibit, which was about $400 more expensive. I have no doubt that this LKS sounds better than my Gustard, but not sure if it sounds $500+ better. I'm probably going to just stick with what I have until next year.

G3n3r1cAll in the wallet and mind of the buyer: http://moneyandvalues.blogspot.com/2008/03/psychology-of-money-we-think-higher.html
How do you work around this?
1. Features. 2. Measurements (transparency). 3. Make (warranty and reputation of manufacturer). 4. Community experience. 5. Sound (???) Subjective and influenced by price and opinion.
If you can find a $100 DAC that has both 1,2 with 3 for closure then your done . Want that fancy name then add $$$ until your satisfied regardless of the actual device or its perceived sound. 4 is good for research. 5 is personal. Sit down in a quiet room, plug in your favorite headphones and listen to your music. It should determine you made the right choice. If not then you will always buy the next expensive piece to validate the fact that you care more about equipment then your music.
Now the shill in me has everything I need. I love my amp / dac combo. I have transparency. I love my cans for different music types, isolation, sound stage, intimacy and or mood.
I had a grand to spend on this bad boy: http://rme-audio.de/en/products/adi_2-dac.php
But alas, logic prevailed, as again my $200 DAC does its job and the spending must stop.
Enjoy.

RosiebarLike a guy who uses his brain instead of his emotion when buying equipment, it’s easy to get swayed for something more expensive and in the meantime worrying about having food on the table. If you can find your music nirvana at a lower price then power to you.

RosiebarLove your list. Too much dough for chi-fi (item #3). No support or glacial support at best if it breaks would be my primary concern, even if one thinks the initial quality is worth it. Think about their margins!

G3n3r1cUnfortunately, I have not heard the FiiO Q5, so I can't say.
