Pass on this one. Looked up this work on Kickstarter. The manufacturer has projects that were funded, and not delivered. Specifically look at the "Electa." Also complaints about this model of pen being of low quality. This has got "risky" written all over it. How did this get to Massdrop?
Does the cap not post at all on the black color version? Noticed the other two have threads on the end, but the black one doesn't. Unless that's kind of a "mini" cap and not just a decorative band there?
You advertise this as "can keep it in your pocket", but from the looks of it, my shirt/pants would have been ruined if I kept my pen inside them.
Either it didn't write at all, or it exploded on me. I couldn't for the life of me get this pen to work.
Looks like the ink is leaking from the feed. Have you tried removing both nib and feed and thoroughly cleaning everything? Afterwards check the insides for any material that may prevent the feed from seating properly. If it still leaks, and the manufacturer won fix it, try wrapping a turn or two of plumbing tape around both nib and feed and re-insert it.
Very disappointed.
The pen exploded on me leading to this

And much worse on my hands which I washed (when something like this happens your instinct is not to take a photo, but to wash your hands)
This happened when the pen was closed on my desk. I picked it up to write, opening it up, only to see that my whole hand is covered in ink and the inside of the ink cap is full of ink as well. The entire ink cartridge emptied into the pen itself.
I am just pissed.
I received my pen today. It is better than expected and truly a great addition to my collection. Only regret is I didn't buy more, now I have to wait for the drop to roll around again.
To my knowledge metal pens are not all that good as eye droppers since metal can, and often will, react with ink. That said all this highly depends on material and ink but still I wouldn't consider it a worthwhile risk.
I ave owned the tiny pen since it was first introduced through Kickstarter a few years back. I had no quality issues with mine which writes beautifully and is very well finished. It holds beautifully through the years, and the brass barrel is a lot of fun as I can let it gather patina for a subdued look or give it a quick polish to make it shine like gold almost:-)
I ordered this pen from a previous drop. I have the chrome finish and have been very happy with it. I did not have any quality control issues, let alone metal shavings in the pen and packaging. I hope that JDeuls gets a good replacement pen.
I need to say that while I like the writing quality of the "Tiny" Fountain Pen, I am definitely disappointed in the quality in which it arrived: there were metal shavings throughout the entire body of the pen, which I had to clean thoroughly before using so as not to damage the pen from the start. Additionally, this morning, when I went to use it, I tried unscrewing the cap, and cut both of my thumbs and the side of my finger on the decorative edges. And, a friend of mine who assisted me in opening the pen also cut his fingers. I find that to be unacceptable. It seems that the quality assurance on my pen, if not others, was very poor. I will be sending it back shortly and am not sure that I will use Mass Drop in the future.
Hi @JDeuls -- That's incredibly disappointing and of serious concern to me. I will be following up personally with the maker, and I would appreciate knowing from other members if they encounter similar issues.
The sample units we received were nicely finished, with caps that opened easily and no sharp edges or metal shavings in the pen, let alone the box - that's unacceptable.
It would help me to address this for the rest of the community if you could send photos of the shavings, and also clarify which edge was cut - do you mean that you were taking the cap off the pen, or that you were separating the grip section from the barrel to change/insert a cartridge?
Please post the photos here, or email "writing@massdrop.com" so I can see them ASAP. I apologize for the poor condition of your pen, and we'll certainly address this. To get the fastest resolution for a return, please submit a Specific Order Inquiry to our Customer Support team:

I really want this pen, but without a compatible converter, why did I spend hundreds on awesome bottled inks!?
Don't answer that, but seriously, after all the $$$ that I spent on inks, there's no way that I'm going to purchase any sort of standard cartridge.
Not sure if this will help, BUT, the bock nib unit seems to be identical to the kaweco liliput unit - a lot of people have found compatible converter hacks for it, so I'd say it'd be totally doable :)
I also refill a ton of mini carts with my bottled inks, seal them with hot glue so I can have them on standby :D
At these Bock Nibs or Jowo Nibs (ie: it's one or the other as I doubt the nibs were machined in house), and if so are they the #5 size?
Also regarding the converter, can a regular Schmidt converter or the Monteverde mini converter work, is there enough length in the barrel for either, and will the nipple on the section be tight enough to accept it (ie: some nipples are too lose for converters but snug enough for just the cartridges).
Aloha Karl, per the description, "...Featuring a textured grip section and a German-made Bock stainless steel nib, the pen offers an exceptional writing experience..."
I am interested to know if a clip is included as well. I have a liliput and love it, but, do miss the option of a clip.
I purchased one of the Templar converters for my Liliput, but, it did not work because of the diameter. It fit in length, but, the Templar converter gets thicker in diameter on the top half where the top half screws over the bottom half. The pen closed and worked, but, the first time I went to open the pen to fill it the top of the converter was stuck inside the body of the pen and came apart. Hope this helps.
