DerbaderLogitech is shutting down the older Harmony Link (this is the newer Harmony Hub). These are NOT being bricked in March and will continue to function. However, the hubs are reliant on connecting to Logitech's online services to pull information about the devices you connect to the hub like the number and type of inputs for TVs, channel guides for set top boxes, and a bunch of other info that simplifies setup. It is probably the most comprehensive list of supported devices for any home theater automation system but it does come at the cost of Logitech possibly shutting down support in the future in favor of a newer model.

DerbaderThese are the new ones taking over the old ones they are bricking I believe, the backlash is that they are no longer supporting the old one and instead of living it alone they are bricking them forcing customers to upgrade. I thought someone was offloading useless stuff too till I realize it's different

RMaximThanks for the clarification. However, it sounds as though there is a good chance the support for this product will likely meet the same fate as the previous model

DerbaderIt is very possible that Logitech shuts support off in the future. Logitech has said that over 40x more people are using this new Harmony hub compared to the old Harmony Link so even though this is a much newer device it is wildly more popular. It's a shame to see a company shut down support for an old device but it's always going to be a risk as more and more devices are dependent on online connectivity for configuration and updates.
I will say, however, that the Hub is a very worthy successor to the Link. This new model has much more robust connectivity options for newer devices. The older Link was a puck-shaped IR blaster that had to be controlled with the smartphone app whereas the newer Hub added support to also controlling devices over Bluetooth and WiFi and works with Logitech's Companion remotes. It can also talk to many popular home automation hubs (SmartThings, Wink, etc.) to control other smart devices such as lights, switches, and plugs.
Additionally, Logitech is giving a free Harmony Hub to everyone who owns a Harmony Link so they can upgrade their system. It took significant backlash for them to offer this but its at least good to see that the company is owning up to it and doing the right thing after people complained.
