Originally created by a pair of graduate students to assist earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, LuminAID inflatable solar lights are now used by emergency workers, hikers, and backpackers worldwide. The durable, water-resistant TPU construction inflates to diffuse the light, and flattens into a compact package when not in use to be clipped on your backpack or tucked in your first-aid kit. Equipped with a four-level battery indicator and an adjustable strap for hanging, each light can be charged via the built-in solar panel or the micro USB input (cord included).
Note: This drop is for two solar lanterns. At checkout, you'll have your choice for each: the Packlite Firefly USB, the PackLite Max USB, the PackLite Spectra USB, or the PackLite Nova USB (+ $4).
Founders Andrea Sreshta and Anna Stork met at Columbia University while pursuing their Master of Architecture degrees. When tasked to design a product that would support disaster relief, the women considered basic human needs beyond food, water, and shelter. They turned their attention to light, a critical resource in the dangerous nighttime conditions of Haiti’s tent cities. The LuminAID has been used in relief efforts following Hurricane Sandy, Typhoon Haiyan, and the earthquakes in Nepal. It’s also been adopted by outdoor enthusiasts, and was even featured on Shark Tank.
The PackLite Nova USB has five light settings and a maximum output of 75 lumens. Meanwhile, the PackLite Spectra USB is a fun, color-changing option with seven color modes, a white LED mode, and a multicolor fade. The PackLite Firefly USB is a has a warm, radiant glow and glistening frame that adds a soft ambiance to any setting. Finally, the PackLite Max USB is the largest and brightest of the bunch, with a maximum output of 150 lumens.
