I've never been a fan of any Lumintop light UI, where Nitecore has it down now with their 2 button options that gives access to instant low and instant high, and by keeping it consistent across most of their models.

guvnorThe UI's not horrible on this one. It's either in "mode 1" or "mode 2".
In mode 1, the power button turns on the front light and the mode button cycles through brightness levels. If you hold the mode button down while the front light is on, it switches to the side light (and then the mode button cycles through brightness levels for the side light). Holding down the mode button with the side light on switches back to the front light. The power button turns the light off again. When you turn the light on in mode 1, it always starts with the front light, regardless of which one was lit when you turned it off.
In mode 2, only the side light works, and its brightness levels are lower. (The highest mode 2 level is about the same as the lowest mode 1 side light level, IIRC.) Power turns the light on, mode cycles through the brightness levels, and power turns the light back off.
To switch between the modes, hold down the mode button (for three seconds, IIRC) while the light is off.
The light has mode memory, which appears to be global; it remembers "low", "medium" or "high", irrespective of the particular LEDs in use. (So if you had it in mode 1 medium on the side LEDs when you turned it off, it would be in medium on the front LED when you turned it back on.)
I use mine as a tent light, so I leave it in mode 2 most of the time. The brightness, CRI, and color temperature are perfect for that use.

asciiphilInstant low and Instant high from off are features I really want from every light now; I've noticed 90% of the time for these keychain lights I'll use one of those two modes instead of fiddling around and cycling the modes.
Memory mode has become less and less important for me as instant low/high basically negates the need to remember turning off the light at the brightness you want to keep and what brightness you left it the last time you used the light.

guvnorWhich lights here at MD offer ‘instant High’ AND ‘instant Low’, and is pocketable?
Every light I’ve come across cycles through one arrangement or another of L-M-H.

glennacMost of the current Nitecore lights have the options; currently the only active Nitecore drop is for the EA45S that uses 4x AA.
For a keychain light option like this one, Nitecore has the TIP model that also has instant low/high. They can be found from many different online stores.
