Some further thoughts: the three light levels are chosen well on the Nichia. Each is useful: Low is discreet and non-blinding (a good level to check pupillary response). Medium is good for intermediate distances like walking along a dimly lit street. High is great for being seen.
I would have only one recommendation to improve this light. The user interface should have cycled {Low, Medium, High} instead of {Medium, Low, High}. I don't need mode memory (always starting on Low would have been fine) and I don't need a strobe on a penlight (though I think it would have been excellent). But more than anything, I sure wish this light was LMH instead of MLH!

WLVAThere's a good reason Lumintop went with MLH. Medium is the most used mode for the intended purpose of this light - general use around work or home.
If you're looking for a light by the bedside or in a camping tent, then it makes sense to have L come on first, so that you cause minimal disturbance to anyone around you in the middle of the night.
But here's the thing, with a L mode at 3 or 5 lumens, this light's L setting is too bright as a bedside light. You'll want something that comes on at one lumen or less (moonlight mode) for a bedside light, with LMH sequence.
Since Lumintop designed this light to have a much higher lumen L mode, it's not meant as a bedside light, hence MLH is the logical mode sequence for this light.

MassDMLH is counterintuitive. There's a good reason most flashlights are LMH. This is exactly what a user expects when cycling through modes. Lumintop failed to consider that when users change modes, it's typically because they want the light to be brighter. When I'm using Medium, my typical need is to get more, not less, light. (For this reason, even MHL, while somewhat confusing on first click, would be better than MLH.)
The Nichia version of the light is rated at 1.5 lumens, not 3 or 5 lumens. I use mine as a bedside light, and find the modes on the Nichia to be well spaced, even if they are placed in a poor order.
Despite this flaw, the Lumintop IYP365 remains my favorite penlight. It's part of my EDC.
