Has the Android software been updated? The messages from 7 months ago indicates that 1. The software is not compatible with all Android devices and 2. The Android software only has one mode. What is the current status and will the Luxi work with the Samsung Galaxy S5 and S7?

gaknakThe app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.esdevices.luxi.luxi) was last updated on December 3, 2014, so I think it's safe to say that compatibility issues probably haven't been resolved. For that matter, the reviews on the Play Store are generally very negative (even some of the happiest reviews call out some notable problems).
Strictly speaking, there's no need to use Luxi's app since there's no actual interfacing with the hardware. It's just a clip-on with a white dome diffuser. Just like on iOS, there are other light metering apps that will probably work, but I've read a few things that imply the results are going to be pretty far off if the apps aren't designed to work with Luxi. And it'll be completely useless with Luxi if an app doesn't offer calibration. Most of the apps seem to be fairly low-quality, but I haven't tried them, so it's hard to judge fairly.
I'm really tempted to pick this up and write my own app, it's not that hard... And for $24 (counting in shipping) it would be nice to have this for a lightweight carry kit. However, I feel like I'd rather buy a proper physical meter, especially since Luxi is useless for measuring flashes/speedlights. (Well, the problem is the smartphone camera's refresh rate, not Luxi, but same thing in the end.) On the other hand, I'm going to start doing a lot of video, so this might come in handy.

CodyToombsThanks for summarizing it. I guess I'll keep my money if they don't support Android equally, too bad as I was looking forward to this.
