Please let there be another drop :'(
the "luxury and precision" mark on the front of it really kills the looks..
L5 Pro - A real piece of luxury, with glorious sound, but pure options. If only massdrop could go lower, for about 600$... 689$ is still too much , considering the market value.

Agreed on the price. While I wasn't really looking to buy this DAP, it looks very nice and I would be way more tempted to join if the deal was better.
it's still far from complete product ,it has many lag problems .is there an update to fix this ? how is it compare to hm901 dap ?
agooh
Lag problem? For example? L5 Pro has one of the most responsive system.
$1,000 DAP. Advertises it playing a Taylor Swift album.
As an owner I can say it is, so far, the best sounding dap you can get without going with A&K, but it is extremely buggy and the UI is wayyyyyyyy under-developed. Mine is currently crashing when playing 24/192 files. Sadly L&P seem interested in the development of new products (LP3) instead of concentrating in delivering a minimum viable product with the L5 pro.
A nice looking unit if you can afford it ;)
I am impressed that people here carries 128gb song with them. Some carries 200gb!
So long as the DAP supports the MicroSD XC standard, it can support some extremely large sizes. Of course, the largest available that I can recall is 200GB. On my Questyle QP1R, I run two Sandisk Ultra 200GB MicroSD cards in both my slots so the L5 Pro will be able to read the size of the SD card. As for file sizes, FLAC compression is pretty good with no perceivable problems. Most modern processors should be able to handle even high FLAC compression. If you really want to carry everything, getting a small dry case for your microSD cards. I keep one in my EDC backpack for school and travel. There's several options available, like Pelican's SD card dry case.
Excellent product, from the specs. But with flac file format it should sport at least half a TB of memory. 1/8th will just not hold a sensible amount of tracks. I tend to listen to random albums, not tracks. Sorry guys
Has L&P done anything to improve the UI in the past few months?

They do have a update on 2015-11-22.
Is this better than the Fiio X7?
dealaholic
According to some Chinese thread, yes.
dealaholic
It's different, X7 with AM2 has the same type of full bodied sound
Is this running Android or a proprietary OS? If it's Android is it Tidal compatible? Can it do Tidal offline mode?

You might try taking a look at the Onkyo DP-X1. Dual microSD, full android, and balanced output. Supports software DSD (no hardware DSD), so if you want native hardware DSD you have other options. The X1 does support DSD output to external DACs, though, if you wanted to use it purely as a transport. Similar lowest price (actually, a bit cheaper depending on your currency conversion rate) if you import directly from Japan.
Actually, it supports 200gb pretty well as I am using it with a 200gb MircoSD carf right now.

According to LP itself, it only support 32 GB +128GB.

Well maybe at the time they wrote docs they have not tested 200gb cards.
Only 1 MicroSD card slot? For that price there should be 2...

The L5 only supports up to 128gb for MicroSD though, which is pretty small and kinda unacceptable. 128gb isn't a whole lot if you have a lot of lossless files like I do.

True that it says it only goes up to 128gb, but I find that typically companies only list what they have tested, which is the biggest card at that time of development. The larger cards usually do work. For example, my ancient AK100, which they say only supports 32gb cards, is totally fine with 200gb cards. Hope this helps. Cheers
The 4490 is capable of native DSD decoding via Direct DSD (no conversion of the 1-bit stream). Can anyone confirm that: 1. Direct DSD function is enabled, 2. The co-processor mentioned in the specs is not performing any conversion or dithering of the 1-bit DSD stream?
