If you're looking for cooling performance alone, I'd recommend getting a stand with a metal mesh, for as much air-flow and heat-transfer as possible, and large fans for best performance/noise-ratio. Although, if you're not "abusing" your laptop with heavy load games or software, or cooling your old red-ringed 360, you might not really need anything that cool.
That being said, I haven't tested this stand myself, so this is all judging by it's design and looks. It's looks is also what would make me buy it, as it's one of the best looking stands I've seen out there!
