Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Coming to Sound, first experience was good, not great. They sounded a little hollow, with projection a little scooped out in the mids and lows. A few hours into burn and they began to show their true color. Sound is detailed, very accurate, I was surprised by the fact that some parts of music where there was too much layering sounded new, with subtle details I had not noticed before. I'm sure they'll get better with more burn in time. Coming to filters: Gold : Very good sounding airy, with lot of high end shimmer. No sibilance at all. However, as the guide mentioned, it is mostly suitable for classical music or A Capella kind of music unless you just love that extra treble. Silver : Very accurate right mixture of all the spectrum. I'd prefer them for reference monitoring. Black : Extremely fun sounding, gets you that little extra bass. Loved listening on these for a couple of hours. However, as I mentioned, I'd still go with Silver as they are more accurate and neutral.
Supplied ear tips didn't give me an accurate seal so I changed to the white ones. Once I had spend enough time with the filters and decided which one I wanted, I swapped the silicon tips with the supplied memory foam tips and they give pretty damn good seal.
They do have some weight, but they rest in the ear very well and I don't see them coming off unless you are into parkour.
In comparison to Shure se215, I'd say the only difference between these and se215 is the bass. se215 doesn't pack so much bass punch however it's bass is very accurate nonetheless. For the price they definitely beat se215 easily and to be very frank if I were going for a BA headphone I'd prefer something that has multiple drivers.
I'm pretty sure they'll beat se215 in the long run after about an 100 hours of burn in time, and I'll definitely try both side by side then.
TL;DR: I received my set of iems today in perfect condition and they sound kickass!
