Very cool crazy shades
There are a lot of cheap-ass LED glasses out there, and they're OK. All of them are generally monochrome, and come with a handful of patterns and little control. You can make these shades flash-dance any pattern you want, if you've got a bit of coding skills. If you don't, the already loaded default patterns are fun and complex. Assembling them is a real challenge for someone like me, with size XL hands and fingers that match. A lot of tiny bits that have to snugly nestle into other tiny bits and stay stable in 3 dimensions while you insert tiny screws. I found myself wishing for my grandson's fingers (he's two) because they're exactly the right size. Not impossible, but most steps took a half dozen tries, plus or minus another half dozen, to get them right. I've got tools for taking apart and re-assembling automatic watches, but the tricky stuff is mostly about having partial assemblies stay lined up for final assembly. Frustrating, but zen out, breathe, and repeat. I used tiny dots of superglue to stabilize some of the parts that are supposed to stay in place while doing complex assembly. Works great. I STRONGLY suggest you buy some blue thread-lock to keep screws from loosening over time. They recommend. Let me be more firm. DO IT. It's cheap, and it will guarantee you that you won't find yourself trying to do the assemblies again. I swore off coding over 10 years ago... I always sucked at it, and my job was really system design. But... I'm re-learning the coding stuff right now... they're cool enough to make me want to endure that personal pain.

It's a bit uncomfortable and somewhat fragile, but it's ability to wow the people around you makes it worth it. Get the $20 sound sensor to make it even cooler!
The LEDs are colorful and bright, lending themselves to the most vibrant of patterns to catch the eyes of anyone passing by. You can glean enough about how to program them from looking at the existing source code and copy/pasting them into your own designs! It uses the arduino ide and you'll have to download some drivers and follow the online guides to make it work. I made a couple patterns myself that are pretty awesome!
The only issues stem from the fact that the glasses are made from circuit boards, which are rigid and rough around the edges. That's an issue when it comes to frames resting on the ears, but the kit comes with plastic tubes that can be used to wrap around the tips and can be shrink wrapped to fit. Also, it comes with a nose pad that screws on, so technically the issue of circuit boards touching the face generally won't happen.
Lastly, I want to emphasize that the glasses aren't powered by themselves. You need a battery pack; preferably one that can easily fit into a pocket or bag. The power feeds into the back of one of the arms of the glasses, which works out great if you're wearing something with a hood. The included power cord is long enough to make it down your torso into a pocket in your pants if you choose to power it like that, but it can also work in a backpack.
I definitely recommend these glasses, and I feel someone who knows how to tinker with code would be able to get more bang for their buck and a greater sense of ownership than the users who don't do any of that. But make no mistake, the base patterns are bad-ass in their own right. Give it a shot!

My unit had a stuck pixel so I contacted macetech directly and they made arrangements to have it fixed.
Now it works like a charm. I had my friend plug it in to his electric unicycle's USB port and he wore it while we rode on the streets of Manhattan:
(caution: riding on the street with this thing on IS DANGEROUS as it hinders your field of vision)
