Oh boy, I was about to bite on this drop to compare this version with their first iteration I have, and decided to go to their site to see what else they've been up to (because I thought they also put out a stainless steel version of this new design), and I saw this one: https://www.machine-era.com/collections/everything/products/field-pen-stainless This looks like it has a clip-activated mechanism and side button retract system (similar to mechanisms on some 'gravity-activated' multipens and the Fisher astronaut pens) and now thinking - can md work out a drop for that stainless steel field pen? :D I think a machined stainless steel clip would be better than the use of aluminum for the clip, but otherwise, I think that one's more of the form factor and material and ink refill options I'd like to use. Thoughts?
okesterThanks jessewaldo for showing where I could vote for it - was it already around as an option? Pretty neat either way...
And I'm lame - I actually thumbs-upped myself because I thought clicking on the number might let me see who thought that it was a decent post. And didn't mean to distract from the discussion of the current brass pen drop, however I didn't realize some brass alloys used lead for machinability. Food for thought...
