Just curious about why all the snarky replies? I checked the discussion section to get an idea of what people who may have actually bought and used this pen previously thought of it. Instead of useful information, I found nothing here except comments about how much you all think it looks cheap. That's fine--we all have different ideas about what makes a pen look good, or not. Just because I like its looks doesn't mean that everyone else will, but that info isn't very useful to me since no one here seems to have actually seen, held or used one. I ended up having to go to pen forums to get an idea of how it works, and lo and behold, everyone who has used the pen loves how it writes and commented, too, about it writing immediately and well even after the pen had been sitting for awhile, unused. One person thought it was a bit spendy at the $200+ price they paid for it, and then adding the cost of shipping on top of that. But at $149 and free shipping here on Massdrop, the price becomes much more reasonable. Since I actually like some intricate pen designs (I have 2 Yard-O-Led Viceroy Victorians, for example), and I like the geometric, snake scale-like look of this pen, I have ordered one, and because I was able to find comments that were actually useful to me on several forums, I have every expectation that I'll enjoy writing with this pen. I'll let you know about how it looks, feels, and writes once it arrives.

IrishEyesMrsZI did participate in the drop but I also saw the pen at the Atlanta Pen Show last weekend. They didn’t have any to sell, just a sample. So I went to the Magna Carta website. I ordered the pen on Monday. It was shipped Wednesday and arrived at my office Friday. It is exactly as described. Beautiful pens, writes well. Has weight but not excessive. Has character but not over the top. I ordered the Oxford model but with the curved lines unlike the straight cross hatch design of the Mass Drop version. I’m totally pleased. And three day shipping from India to Atlanta for $25 was a no brainer.

IrishEyesMrsZPersonally I made the snarky comment so that Massdrop would take note. I've been a member since their first year or two, and it's gone from a few well considered, well curated, drops of really nice items at decent prices to a bunch of complete junk, at prices that often don't even compete with Amazon.

DC52I really like the honeycomb pattern on yours! But I also love the one I ordered, because it reminds me of snake skin (somewhat), and I seriously LOVE snakes and other herps. And, I enjoy bling, sometimes. I have quite a few vintage sterling silver pens with intricate patterns, plus 2 models of the Yard O Led Viceroy Victorian. This will be arriving at the end of this week, so I'm looking forward to trying it out and seeing how it feels to write with.

robert.harrisFair enough, although I don't like painting everything with the same brush, especially if I have no knowledge of it. I think we've only been on Massdrop/Drop for 2 or 3 years, and in many ways I can agree that there is a lot of expensive junk being offered. Still, we've ordered some very nice items, here, for at or below 'Zon prices, and have been very pleased with them.

IrishEyesMrsZThese days the only thing I try out are things unavailable on Amazon that maybe look interesting and have good reviews elsewhere. The real issue I have is that because it's not longer as well curated, I can no longer look at Massdrop with trust, but rather I have to do my own research carefully. (Which I always did a little of just to double check, but now it's barely worth it.) Basically it would be nice to have a place to come to that offers the unusual and high quality without having to go and find everything out about it on my own. Otherwise what's the point. (And even when they are below Amazon prices (which occurs somewhat frequently with fountain pens and a few other things, they're never cheaper than the usual suspects in those specialized worlds).
