Not sure who to direct this to......My new Makara sea turtle, maroon face watch was running eight minutes a day fast. Unacceptable. Brought it in to a local watch repair place for “adjustment”. He asked me if I had opened the back of the watch (I had not.). Turns out watch had a bent mainspring, and the two hands were rubbing as they passed (and one was loose.) There was also a fair amount of dust inside. This is a NEW WATCH, right? Lousy quality control? Passing off defective returns as New? So far (one day after adjustments) the adjusted watch seems to be running ok. Perhaps someone at MASSDROP would like to comment on this. Although this is the third watch I’ve bought through MASSDROP, this doesn‘t inspire confidence. I would also like to hear back from Makara.

harveyfnjYeah, been having some issues with my one as well. It kept stopping on the minute hand.
Took it to the repair shop, he said it wasn't "built right" and gave it a service.
Seemed to hold for month, but its back to not working again :/

sagecoSince being "fixed," mine runs perfectly. One of the problems fixed was under the crystal - one of the hands was bent and rubbing on the other as they passed. Sounds like that could be your problem too. Maybe take it back to your watch guy (if you trust his work) and ask him to check the position and angles of the hands, including the second hand. Was a quick fix for me, and solved a lot of problems. Good luck with it.

harveyfnjNow that you mention, it does look like the second hand is bent and is rubbing on the minute hand.
Sigh, will take it in.
Thanks mate.

sagecoYou might want to find another watch repair guy. When a new watch is running erratically, one of the first things he should check is the hands. Real simple. Pops off the crystal, looks at the hands with a magnifier (loop), straightens them out if they are bent. Can even check it without removing the crystal. I went to a certified Rolex repair center, figuring if they can work on Rolex, Makara should be no problem. It wasn’t.

harveyfnjYou may be right on that front. Let see what he says.
