No need for masking tape or sticky notes that don't stick. Marilee’s Numbered Pins are an organized means of keeping quilt blocks orderly, rows and columns numbered, and projects neat and clean Read More
I bought a couple of sets of these sometime back, but hadn’t tried using them until this past weekend.
they arent the finest pins around, and I sorta wish the numbers were on both sides, but it really helped piece together a scrappy quilt made of about a zillion three-inch blocks. I started at the right end of a row, and stacked the blocks in order so the far right block was the bottom of the stack. Row 1-stick a “1“ pin through the stack at the top of the block. The two block on the far left were left out of the stack, instead stacked together face-to-face and another “1” pin stuck in the side where the seam would go. Placed those two pinned blocks on top of the corresponding pinned pile.
This allowed me to get large sections of the top ready to sit at the machine to piece without getting stuff out of order. (And I can forget the order of stuff the moment I pick it up...)
the suggestion of Sharpie+flower pin made by another commenter is good! I will probably do the sharpie thing on the backside of the ones I have, and will probably suggest it to friends who may see me doing this at a retreat. But, I dont regret the purchase. Gadgets-r-us..
The pins are ok. The case is terrible. Doesn't stay closed. keep a rubber band around it, and keep it in the ziplock bag it. Ones in.
Also, don't jet the iron anywhere near them.
I would nit not buy them again. I would just take a sharpie to the back of flower pins.
Hi All,
One quick note, the dimensions that listed the thickness was incorrect and was noted as much larger then actual. The actual dimension is .655 mm thick and not 1.6 as noted.
