There's a review here on Outdoor Gear Lab: https://www.outdoorgearlab.com/reviews/clothing-womens/down-jacket-womens/marmot-quasar-nova-hoody-womens which suggests that it is: a) Very light (slightly heavier than the Ghost Whisperer but not by much) b) Pretty damn warm with the fill etc c) Main negative is it "wetting out" as the fabric doesn't have good water resistance, which isn't to be expected of down jackets of course, but given that down loses its insulation value when wet would render it then very ineffective for keeping you warm.
So from all this it would seem that it's a good buy, good piece of lightweight gear at a very reasonable price, but you'd need to take special care to use it with waterproof layer and ensure it doesn't get wet. Whereas some of the other brands have more water resistant fabric outer and/or some use synthetic fill also under the armpits and places likely to get moist, which this one doesn't.
Hope that's somewhat helpful.

Anyone own this that has an opinion on it? Can anyone compare it to the Ghost Whisperer or LL Bean Down Jacket? This seems like a great deal, as long as it can compete with the others.
planb10113I've got the Quasar (sans Nova aka sewn-through instead of baffled) and love it... I use it as my winter "extra layer" either around camp or in the hammock if needed. I paid slightly more than this for the older Quasar and don't have any regrets.
Edit: I use a Marmot Featherless Hoody that I prefer for more active wear, the Quasar only comes out when at rest/sleep.

planb10113I have both MHW Ghost Whisperer and Marmot Quasar. They are both 800 Fill down but I would take the Marmot Quasar hands down 7 days a week. For me it comes down to the zippers. The Ghost uses a #3 zipper that just wants to tear out. The Marmot uses a #5 zipper that has never had a problem. The Marmot Quasar also has a chest pocket which I have found to be useful.
