Equal parts wireless speaker system and conversation piece, the Crazybaby Mars looks like it could’ve been pulled from the set of a futuristic movie. It comprises two parts: the sleek, minimalist subwoofer (called the Base) and the UFO-style tweeter (the Craft) that floats silently above using the company’s magnetic-levitation technology. The Base’s 3.75-inch low-frequency driver delivers deep, powerful bass, while the Craft’s 1.75-inch medium- to high-frequency driver brings crystal-clear treble into the mix. Along with Bluetooth connectivity with a range of 100 feet, the Mars has a high-sensitivity omnidirectional microphone for hands-free calls.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of colors between Black, Space Gray, and White.
The Base offers up to 8 hours of continuous playing time using a built-in rechargeable lithium battery, while the Craft promises up to 6 hours of in-air operation without a single battery or charging port in sight. Instead, it uses the top of the Base as a wireless charging station, and will simply lower down onto the platform for automatic charging when it’s running out of juice. A subtle LED indicates the status, and the whole system is built to stand up to daily use on your desk—with an IPX7 water-resistance rating for those inevitable spills.
