I am adding my opinion also. I love love love this rotary cutter. It took a little getting used to, but I hate using a traditional rotary cutter now. The Martelli blades last forever and cut so smoothly. I used my last blade for over 6 months before I replaced it.
Just fyi, I love mine!
I'm a lefty and I love this cutter. Switching hands isn't an option though so either get a turntable or cut on a smaller surface you can physically move around to reach awkward angles.
Shipping for one 45mm cutter is $3.75, and for two it is $7.75. Why would it be more than double? Typically the shipping for a second item is less! It's only $.25 difference, but it would generally make more sense to place two orders. Doesn't add up to me!
Is this May 2017 drop for the version #3 left-handed version rotary cutter? There's an upgrade on the left-handed rotary cutter, and apparently there are still some left on the market that are not the current version.
Hi @dearestmumsie.1 and @Bonn6The left hand versions for this drop are the must current, blue handed models. I have updated notes. Thank you for calling this out.
The cutter is cheaper on Amazon, but this one comes with 2 additional blades.
dearestmumsie.1
the cost of the cutter and 2 blades on Amazon is about $2 more than the lowest price of this drop. With Amazon Prime to get free shipping, this is not a good deal. The MSRP seems to be exaggerrated
dearestmumsie.1
agreed, so I am not the only one seeing this as not a great deal
Is this version 2 or 3?
dearestmumsie.1
From the added note it looks like version 3
Cheaper on Amazon
has anyone gone to the Martelli website to see what other products they carry.   I ordered the cutting table from Martelli, and I love it ... hopefully we will see some of the rulers from Martelli also on Massdrops
ernestina
I checked the site. The current cutters are red and blue (for lefties). I think this is a previous version.
Bonn6
Thanks for the info
Any plans to do a photo reshoot on this product? You're still using the photo of someone using this ergonomic product in a very un-ergonomic way, and there is also a new left-handed cutter. I would hate to see someone have difficulty using the product because they imitated a poor image, or not buy because they think you're still selling the old version of the left-handed cutter.
I JUST RECIEVED TODAY A 45MM CUTTER AND 2 45MM BLADES. WHERE IS MY 60MM CUTTER AND BLADES? ANOTHER PACKAGE?? THANK YOU, DIANE

I am also concerned about the drop. TWhat interest me is the bundle I thought included two rotar cutters one 60 and 40. Did I really miss understand the bonus.

Kind of feel ripped of. MartellI is selling this for $12.99.
Denise62
I totally agree.
I'm really looking forward to trying this out! I went with the 60 mm blade and I'm hoping it's not too much of an adjustment from the 45 mm. Here's to healthy wrists and elbows!
If I committed to buy at the lowest price, am I in the drop or do I have to join again to get the cutter? Thanks.
suziqlt
Hi @suziqltWhen you commit, you are only participating in the drop if the lowest price point has been met. Since it has on this drop, you are good to go. No need to do anything further. Hope that helps explain it a little better.
suziqlt
Thanks. I am happy!
really? They're $24.99 on the Martelli web site! And, they're on sale through 11/20 for $12.95. These are not good deals!!!
out-o-here
Hi @out-o-hereThank you for the callout. I looked into this and Martelli's sale started three days after ours and I didn't have visibility to it. I reached out to our vendor and they are going to work with the community and offer a steeper discount because of this. I have updated the drop and it now reflects the lower price. With shipping added in, for both websites, we are still lower.
If the price difference still isn't to your liking or would rather pay the slight increase to get the item sooner that is completely understandable. You may opt out of the drop, if you had joined, by going into your profile, clicking on transactions and canceling the order.
I would sure like to see a package of replacement blades offered in a sale. For both sizes. :)
SunshineAnnie
That's a good suggestion! I will work to see if that can happen. Thank you!

Heather, how many blades come with my cutter? Is there pkgs. of blades only in the drop?
The group's bulk order arrived earlier to our warehouse in New Jersey and many of the individual packages have already shipped back out. However, upon taking inventory of everything received, our team was made aware of a backorder affecting a small handful of units. The vendor informed us that the group's order was picked up and is on its way to our warehouse in New Jersey. Based on the tracking provided, the order is scheduled to arrive on 10/24.
We understand that the additional wait time is undesirable. If you would prefer to cancel your order, please contact Community Support using the “Contact Support” button in your transactions page (http://massdrop.com/transactions).
You can expect an update from us on 10/25 or sooner if something comes up.

I am so anxious to get my cutter! I can't wait! I hope mine is in this order.
I really enjoyed using my new rotary cutter, but it seems like the blades dulled very quickly. Did this happen to anyone else, or does anyone have any advice?
Just about there! We've been in touch with the vendor regarding the group's order and they've let us know that they are still working to gather and pack the group's order for shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey. We will continue to check in with them throughout the fulfillment process and update the group again as soon as everything is en route to us!

The ergonomics of the cutter is absolutely great. It does not put strain on either your hand or wrist-- and I got issues with both.
That said, to get the cutter to work best, you need to hold it exactly right, completely perpendicular to the mat. If you hold it right, it takes very little pressure to cut and you hear/feel almost a tissue tearing sound as you cut. Although this might sound awful (learning curve, got hold the cutter right) it's actually good b/c this means that you won't dig gouges out of your mat and your mat will last longer- so win all around. The bigger cutter (60 mm) is good for cutting batting and other thick stuff. 45 really works just fine for everyday stuff. I have yet to try cutting out non-quilt sewing projects with a rotatory cutter (ie, a dress, shirt, etc).
