Nice knife. I ordered 3 and the boxes they came in, along with the box from you guys, was absolutely destroyed. I was going to give these as a gift, but now I'm going to have to build a box in order to make it presentable.
Great news group! We’re happy to report that all of the orders have been shipped out from our warehouse and are now on the way to you! Please allow 24-48 hours for tracking to get into the shipper's system and start updating.

Another brief update. The group's order arrived at our warehouse in New Jersey earlier today and many of the individual packages have already gone out. We anticipate all remaining packages shipping out by end of day tomorrow and we'll update the group again as soon we receive confirmation of complete shipment!
We are thankful for your continued patience and you can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 7/24 or earlier if anything comes up.
A quick update for you all! We've been in touch with the vendor and they've let us know that they are still working hard to gather and pack the group's order for shipment to our warehouse in New Jersey. We will continue to check in with them throughout the fulfillment process and update the group again once the shipment is en route to us.
Thanks for your patience and expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 7/20 or sooner if something comes up.
skemmis@skemmis Great question! We are always finding ways to ensure you all receive the items you paid for as quickly as possible and often dropshipping is a good solution. However, certain vendors are unable to accommodate the time or resources necessary to dropship or just prefer that we handle the logistics of that process.
It’s a go! Thanks to all of you for being a part of this successful drop. We have submitted the group’s order with the vendor for the Marttiini Knives Lynx 121. They are currently preparing the shipment and once we receive it at our warehouse in New Jersey, we’ll separate everything into individual orders and send them out to you! We expect your orders will be in transit from our warehouse by 7/24.
In the meantime, we’ll do everything we can to update you on information we receive from the vendor about your order status so you know the location of your order throughout the process.
Thanks again for being a part of this community! You can expect an update from us by the end of the day Pacific Time on 7/13 .
the steel in the blade is just about the most important part of a knife. I much prefer old-school styled straight blades like this to require a bit of oiling and upkeep, which can easily be done and use a high carbon steel. it's the modern alloys that have high edge retention and high resistance to rust that are expensive (everything higher than AUS10 imo, which is roughly minimum $100 price of entry).
There are $10 blades on amazon, hand carved wood handles that use better carbon steel and simply require a bit of upkeep to keep the blade from rusting (although the patina from long term ownership adds a bit of character as well).
All of that said, the handle and shape and finish of the blade are very beautiful, and for less knife-nerdy people this is an OK purchase if you want a straight blade. Before reading about the steel used, my one complaint is that it doesn't have fingertip protection, but it's clearly made to be a drawing blade not a pushing blade, so if you're not an idiot like me (i have scars) you should be fine :)
Please let's do more straight blade knife drops the magic one hasn't happened for me yet but this is close!
thebreadmanShipping wont be a problem, if customs is what you are worried about.
A Fixed blade knife completely legal to import into Australia unless if it has double sharpened sides etc etc etc... you can find more info at the customs website :)
I have to say, the steel might not be the greatest, but I have a knife from this same maker, same handle, about twice the size. It's one of the best most trust worthy knives I own. And it's a very unique one at that.
